FredricRice asked this question on 5/5/2000:
Since L. Ron Hubbard was named as one of the many unindicted co-conspirators, does anybody know how he managed to escape justice? I've read that he went on the lam and hid on a ranch in Northern California (where he died) but surely the Feds could have tracked him down if they want to.
Does anybody know if they let him off for a reason? Do you know of any court documents somewhere on the Internet that cover why they let him go?
Thanks.

Hi! The reason the "let him go" was because they could not find him and thus could not serve him with a subpoena and / or arrest him. They might have been able to indict him in abstencia but he had the right to face his accusers which he could not do because he was in hiding.
The Grand Jury's indictment is on Arnie Lerman's web site at http://lermanet.net

I would have thought that the Feds could follow the other ringleaders until they found him. Oh, well. I'll go see that document.
