How is it that one man discovered so much information?

Hubbard made it all up.
His first start into the "self-help" field occured when he wrote a short science fiction story for _Astounding_ magazine called "Dianetics." The readership actually took the story seriously, and astonished both the editor and Hubbard. The editor suggested a book-length ms on the subject, and Hubbard concured.
Hubbard locked himself in his room for four weeks, and when he staggered back out, "Dianetics. The Modern Science to Mental Health" was in his hot, sweaty hands. He shipped it off to a publisher, and it was accepted.
The book actually become somewhat of a best seller, even though its contests is absurd pseudo-science. This is because the American public is grossly ignorant about science.
Hubbard briefly lost the rights to "Dianetics," so he greatly expanded on the concept and came up with "Scientology." During that effort he regained the rights to "Dianetics."
Hubbard's actual accomplishments are nearly zero. He "discovered" nothing: he merely rehashed what thousands of other people had said before him. His homilies are trite and inane.
