Do Scientologists use medical doctors?
desertphile gave this response on 4/22/2000:
Yes, very much so. There is nothing in Scientology Scriptures or policy that prevents them from seeking and acquiring medical treatment for thier ailments.
Except for their mental illnesses. Then the answer is "No," they do not use medical doctors. They use worthless pseudo-science "treatments" such as the Introspection Rundown that killed Lisa McPherson.
Many Scientologists choose to ignore sound medical advice and go with Scientology's "treatments." The Church often claims it can cure anything from the common cold to cancer. This is because they believe that sickness is caused by "body thetans," and when the body thetan causing the sickness is caused to "blow" (leave) via "auditing" (detection of BTs by a crude ohm meter used as a polygraph), the sickness "goes with them." Hubbard claimed to be able to cure a cold just by talking to a person.
Most Scientologists (the vast majority) merely go to doctors (real doctors) when they are sick.
