I am recently pregnant, and I have heard from a friend that during labor it is a bad thing to make too many noises or talk too much, as it might be bad for the baby. She said she had a "Dianetics Childbirth" with her three kids.
What is the Dianetics Childbirth?

Certainly--- Dianetics postulates that an individual can acquire "engrams" from any and all kinds of tramas. The tramas can be as tiny as in-vitro intestinal noises, to "mommy's many lovers that daddy doesn't know about" (included in the book Dianetics), to "attempted abortions via knitting needles," to daddy having a bad day. Hubbard claimed that giving birth in a dark, silent room would decrease the incidence of more "engrams" being acquired by the infant.
However, Scientology Scripture says that "engrams" do not as such exist. Instead, the "engrams" are really "implants" given to a soul (called a "thetan") by evil psychiatrists from outer space just before that soul reincarnates on Earth. Please see my FAQ under "Xenu."
