I do not know what to believe of the deluge of ARS postings about Bob Minton, Stacy Brooks and the Lisa McPherson Trust meeting, or not meeting, with the Church of Scientology's Office of Special Affairs ("OSA"). However, I do know that I am surprised by the content of many of these messages. It does not matter whether we differ with any decisions Bob and Stacy have made in the past. In most states it is neither wrong nor unethical for a third party (such as Bob Minton) to contribute to a litigation fund provided it is agreed upon and understood (preferably in writing) that such funding does not permit the donor to participate in the attorney-client relationship or to direct the attorney's conduct of the litigation. That is different from the champerty engaged in by Kendrick Moxon and OSA in cases such as Scott v. Ross, Reveillere v. Pattinson and the various Cult Awareness Network cases.
Many of us who suffer through Scientology's "psycho-terrorism", corruption, subversion and criminality can understand any need Bob Minton and Stacy Brooks may feel for perceived personal peace - even if we are disappointed with reports of what may or may not be happening. It cannot be said who has suffered most through Scientology's unrelenting terrorism (against citizen after citizen) in the United States and other countries. In fact, it does not matter who has been most wronged. More relevantly, it can be said that Scientology's terror, criminal, and "psycho-terror" campaign against Bob Minton, Stacy Brooks and the Lisa McPherson Trust has been an unprecedented, horrific use of many tens of millions of IRS tax-free dollars against a small group of American citizens, human and civil rights workers.
I have not met with Bob Minton or Stacy Brooks since the three of us were in Germany in the Fall of 2000. At that time both Bob and I agreed that despite all of the pain and suffering we have endured, both of us would still have responded to the pleas of former Scientologists to help defend American democracy, human rights, civil rights and the Western way of life which we enjoy.
Bob Minton was never a member of the Dianetics and Scientology R.I.C.O. enterprise that L. Ron Hubbard conceived with the most evil of intents and means. Despite that, he was appalled and moved by Scientology's "Fair Game" attacks and harassments which differ in name only from much of the evil that has been perpetrated and pursued in the names of the Taliban, Al Qaeda, Fascism, Communism and a variety of militantly distorted Islamic beliefs. Indeed, Bob Minton's horror was such that he responded and fought the evils of Dianetics, Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard at great personal, familial and financial expense. Most of that evidence is out there and can never be sealed or silenced. Indeed, my books will include some of the evidence, horror and evil that the cults, and its lawyers such as Elliot Abelson, Samuel ("Sandy") Rosen and the Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker law firm, have directed at him. It never ceases to amaze me that lawyers of the Jewish faith, of all people, can accept Scientology's blood money to savage and destroy fellow citizens and human beings. Next month I will speak of these things in Europe.
I urge everyone who posts to the alt.religion scientology ("ARS") World Wide Web newsgroup not to attack Bob Minton and Stacy Brooks for seeking some perceived personal peace, if indeed that is what they are doing. Instead, each of us should look at ourselves and what we have done (individually and collectively) to cause them to feel so isolated, unappreciated, forlorn, helpless and hopeless.
First, former Scientologists bear a lot of blame. Bob Minton and many other freedom fighters were never Scientologists but still responded to the pitiful, terrible and heartbreaking pleas for help from former Scientologists. Eventually, many of us would feel betrayed, as we had to sacrifice our security as well as our careers because former Scientologists and others who hold themselves out to be non-fighters failed to help fund the battles they had begged us to enter. The hundreds and thousands of now wealthy former Scientologists with bank accounts, businesses, homes and cars have particularly betrayed us. Most of them have selfishly failed to open their hearts and wallets. They either fear Church of Scientology "Fair Game" attacks in retribution, or they fear the inability to afford the next fancy car and exotic vacation. Instead, they spend hundreds and thousands of dollars flying to reunions of former Scientologists. However, their collective work for Scientology, Dianetics and L. Ron Hubbard helped to create the evil Scientology/OSA monster that now terrorizes and corrupts so much of Western society.
Irrespective of Dianetics and Scientology fraud and mental manipulation, each former Scientologist bears a personal measure of responsibility for the horror, suffering and destruction now stalking any of us who dare speak and act against the appallingly evil hidden, dark agenda of Hubbard's automatons who are so often endearingly referred to as "Rondroids" and "Ronbots." However, many of these former scientologists luxuriate in silence and fail to support, not only emotionally but also financially, the battle against the Mafia-like legacy of L. Ron Hubbard. They seem to think that they can wait to enter the fray until Scientology enslaves our children and grandchildren and what few American governmental institutions may remain uncorrupted, uncompromised and unintimidated by Hubbard's successors such as David Miscavige and his hired criminal operatives such as Kendrick Moxon and Eugene Ingram. Then too there are others who have fought bravely and have contributed in the past that foolishly say they have, "Done their bit."
The financial selfishness, callousness and cowardice of so many former Scientologists can be indescribably debilitating to those of us who responded to their pleas for help to stand against one of the world's most evil organizations which is fraudulently masquerading as a religion.
Second, many of the vocal critics on ARS also bear responsibility for what Bob Minton may now feel he has to do. ARS commentators, from Dennis Erlich through to Deana Holmes and Chris Owens, have constantly rejected any message of cohesiveness or attempts at co-coordinated civil and mutual self-defense. They prefer to be big mouths, swaggering egos and loose cannons. With one careless or cavalier sentence they damage months of painstaking work by numerous people. They second-guess, backstab, condemn and cruelly criticize. Their facts and interpretations are often wrong. Their language frequently foul. They ignore the fact that ARS is regularly read by government officials reviewing what all the fuss and complaints are about. Consequently, much of what many of us do to defend against the common attacker (Scientology) is diminished and damaged by certain ARS critics. For those "nutmares" this may be a part-time game played from the comfort and safety of a home computer. For some of us in the cruel trenches, this is an unrelenting and dangerous nightmare that will never stop until the United States government ceases its grand hypocrisy in these matters.
From my own perspective, I cannot over-emphasize the damage done by the vicious backstabbing and constant in fighting by certain ARS "critics." The battles against human slavery, fascism and communism would never have been won if soldiers and citizens had acted alone and attacked each other while attempting to combat the mutual enemy. Shame must be heaped upon those of you about whom I write.
Some of us refuse to settle with the satanic cult of $cientology. We few will fight on wherever, however and whenever we can. Nevertheless, none of us should condemn or criticize those who can no longer endure the pain and suffering of what Scientology and OSA so intentionally and demonstrably cause under the fraudulent claim of religious freedom. Scientologists can believe that the spirits of dead space aliens infest our bodies if they wish. However, Scientology and OSA should be held accountable for conduct involving fraud, crime, corruption and terrorism.
Bob Minton, Stacy Brooks, Jesse Prince and the Lisa McPherson Trust should be forever praised and honored for the mammoth good and public service that they have already done. If they decide to try and seek some personal peace and calm, then we should respect that decision. In that instance, it would be wrong to criticize them for no longer having the inner and outer resources to continue fighting terrorism, crime and corruption that is subsidized by the United States government - under a fraudulent claim of religious freedom and the protections of the first amendment.
Indeed, Scientology and OSA have terrorized the United States government and its various agencies into inaction and ultimately into self-destructive silence. $cientology has blackmailed and hoodwinked not only our political representatives, but also our police officers into impotence. Hubbard's "technology" has turned many supposedly impartial judges into compliant OSA stooges. In fact, a great nation which has defeated human slavery, fascism, communism and the Taliban is so terrorized, compromised and corrupted by the sham Church of Scientology, and its secular policies, practices and conduct, that it ignores its constitutional responsibilities to protect its citizens from certain crime and terror.
On December 14, 2001, the Associated Press reported that United States Attorney General John Ashcroft had praised Germany's newly enacted law that allows authorities to ban religious organizations used as a front for extremists, saying it was a necessary measure in the war on terrorism.
Shame upon the United States for cowardly refusing to stand with our brave European allies and to act against the terror, corruption and subversion continually committed by the Church of Scientology's Office of Special Affairs and its lawyers, lobbyists, investigators, "intelligence" officers and operatives. In fact, we must ask why would any proper church need such an intelligence and intimidation operation?
Meanwhile, let us praise and honor the past good works of Bob Minton, Stacy Brooks, Jesse Prince, Mark Bunker, Jeff Jacobson and all of the others who have assisted the Lisa McPherson Trust. Let us all wish them well in whatever they may now decide to do. They know the damage done by Vicki and Richard Azneran when, on precisely the same day, they settled, recanted and swore perjurious declarations falsely accusing some of those who had helped them. I do not believe we have that to fear from anyone with the LMT.
If the worst comes to the worst, and some or all of the rampant rumors are true, the fight for freedom and survival from Scientology terrorism will continue. Those of us who remain will merely have to work harder while others step forward to stand in the stead of those who have been sidelined or benched. In fact, if we all worked together then we could defeat the evil scourge of Scientology' "Fair Game", corruption and subversion before many more lives and dreams are lost.
Thank you Bob and Stacy for what you have courageously and selflessly done for so many people. Please decide to stay in our fight to survive Scientology. However, and whatever you decide, you have my prayers and best wishes for the future.

Putting Chris OWEN (no S) in this list is completely non sequitur.
In fact, it's ludicrous. I defy you to present a single example of Chris Owen using "foul" language. It doesn't exist. Have you read anything of Chris Owen? If there has been any historical research worthy of the name on ars, Chris has done it. He is not a "swaggering ego" or a "big mouth" of any kind. He is an Oxford-trained historian who has applied accepted academic methods to the problem of Scientology.
His website on Scientology's conflicts with the IRS is the most comprehensive and complete archive imaginable. His research on the life of L. Ron Hubbard is a masterpiece.
I simply can not conceive what could possibly lead you to issue this ridiculous attack on Chris Owen of all people.
It's astounding that you are defending Bob Minton from charges of perjuring himself in order to destroy cases against Scientology--which include those of Larry Wollersheim, who has fought for twenty years only to have someone he thought of as a friend betray him and try to bring his long struggle to a disgraceful end with a stab in the back.
This is not the case of someone who has simply bought an honorable peace. It is a betrayal of the darkest sort.
It is astonishing that after listing Chris Owen (who has not that I recall even commented briefly on Minton or his settlement), you would then attack Dennis Erlich.
I don't recall you having any words of defense for Dennis Erlich when Minton savagely attacked him after his own settlement. For that matter, that attack was even more grossly unfair, because Erlich, unlike Minton, did not try to destroy other people's legal cases.
As for Deana Holmes, she appears to have done nothing more evil than to be right when it was unfashionable.
This paragraph is astonishing for who it attacks.
However, it is not astonishing at all for what it contains. I bet yesterday that someone would seize the pathetic ruse of attempting to defend Minton's treachery by blaming it on the people who have criticized him all along.
Well, perhaps if he had listened to the people who criticized his foolishness in the first place, he wouldn't have screwed up so badly that he ended up having to beg for mercy from OSA and cop a deal that involves shafting the people who trusted him. This whole matter is a debacle and a tragedy, and obviously miserable for Minton himself as for everyone else.
However, it just compounds the outrageousness to blame the very people who warned against it in the first place.
I generally refuse to get drawn into a post-by-post slugging match and to do so now would only contradict some of what I wrote in my post. However, I will make a brief and singular response. Significantly, I have received a deluge of emails expressing agreement and appreciation for what I wrote. In fact, I am astounded at the identity and high profiles of some who so quickly expressed their concurrence with my comments. Indeed, judging from the reactions above, my message appears to have been heard. Despite that, I do apologize to Chris Owen for misspelling his name.No "slander or slur" was intended.
The comments I made are from my own personal experience and I respect your right to disagree. The three named persons are merely individual examples of a group of people who appear to post without reflecting upon the potential reaction upon hundreds of thousands of ARS lurkers and government representatives seeking insight into the complaints filed, and expressions of support, by so many people. Not every epithet applies to each of the named examples. None of my remarks are intended to detract from the good they have done.
Indeed, it is all of the good that Bob and Stacy have done that led me to write what I did. Despite that, I am not going to be drawn into a public discussion of my thoughts upon "the transcript" or many of your other statements. That would merely add to what I have suggested be ceased. Whether I publicly commented upon the Dennis Erlich settlement, and the manner in which he treated his lawyers, is irrelevant. I am too busy, often 14/7, to read and comment upon all that occurs. These days I try to live by the sentiments I expressed in my statement.
The third sentence of my post reads: " It does not matter whether we differ with any decisions Bob and Stacy have made in the past." Similarly, I refer you to the second half of my third to last paragraph. Clearly you miss the point. But then again, few of us are perfect. All of us, particularly me, have made decisions we have subsequently regretted and found to be wrong. That is why we are humans and not Gods. Indeed, OSA's attacks upon its "enemies" are usually planned and carried out in such a manner as to cause "overwhelm" and mistakes.
Finally, I stand by what I said in support and appreciation of all of the good and generous things that Bob, Stacy and everyone else at the LMT have done.
With best wishes to all,
