Someone - Valerie? - recently asked for a definitive answer on this.
Here's the info I've been able to find.
1. There is, of course, the undisputed fact (shown over and over in the caretaker logs) that the Scientologists watching Lisa were not speaking to her, in accordance with policy.
2. There's the information here:
3. I noticed this in another thread:
> Qual Sec gave Benn on 11/19 late the references Handling the Psychotic and
> the Introspection R/D. These were a big relief for me and pointed out
> specifics that I could see were being exhibited and that I passed off as
> within her control.) "
So, Qual gave Bennetta references to Handling the Psychotic and the Introspection Rundown. Is this more evidence that Lisa WAS placed on the Introspection Rundown?
4. In the Susanne Reich deposition, Susanne discusses a note from Alain Kartuzinski, Lisa's Case Supervisor, that made Lisa act "weird":
She -- I knew
20 her very well, right, and -- and the moment I gave her the
21 note she -- she acted for me like so strange. She was not
22 like the same person. She was a completely different
23 person. And I was so scared. She was really like -- the
24 first time I had this dangerous feeling for her like, and
25 then she grabbed the paper, and she threw it on the floor
This sounds like it could be the kind of note described in the "Cleared Cannibal" step of the Introspection Rundown HCOB:
HCO Bulletin of 20 February 1974 The Introspection Rundown
"The C/S's action is a direct comm[unication] line to the person by notes. The person is provided with paper and pen to reply. The C/S must determine the person's responsibility level. Example: 'Dear Joe. What can you guarantee me if you are let out of isolation?' If the person's reply shows continued irresponsibility toward other dynamics or fixation on one dynamic to the exclusion of others damaged the C/S must inform the person of his continued isolation and why. Example: 'Dear Joe. I'm sorry but no go on coming out of isolation yet. Your actions threatened the survival of hundreds of people indirectly and 6 families directly by burning down their houses. You are unaware of the effects this could have had and still only concerned about your own welfare. You must hate the human race quite a bit."
5. In the Clearwater Police Department files, there's
6659 6660 2 Report on Lisa 4/16/95 "routed to HGC after her stats crashed. I just found out she is ??? INT R/D" [I think INT R/D is Introspection Rundown]
If no one else has this handy, I'll try to find the TIFs and see if I can transcribe this.
6. During Alain Kartuzinski's first deposition, he says that Lisa did not have an Introspection Rundown - he and Janis Johnson both say she's only there to rest -
[questioner]: did Lisa request that or was she...you know.. .part of any of that [the Introspection Rundown]? Kartuzinski: No. Lisa. .she wanted to rest. .she wanted to.
However, we know that Alain Kartuzinski lied to the police about Lisa doing an Introspection Rundown, by his own admission.
Unfortunately, we don't appear to have the full transcript of that deposition (do we?), so I don't have an exact quote of him saying that Lisa WAS on the IR during her final imprisonment at the Fort Harrison, but it sure sounds like that's what he said.
7. In Valerie Demange's deposition
she describes Scientology treatment for a psychotic break as consisting of isolation and then the Introspection Rundown. Reading the policy in which the IR is described, though, the isolation steps appear to be the first steps of the rundown - they are numbered as part of the procedure, although they are part of "step 0":
--- begin fair use quotes (Hi Caroline!) ---
STEPS OF THE RD
(Steps 0 and 00 are for a person in a psychotic break, not a normal person.)
0. On a person in a psychotic break isolate the person wholly with all attendants completely muzzled (no speech).
00. Give vitamins (B complex, including niacin) and minerals (calcium and magnesium) to build the person up.
--- end fair use quotes ---
The procedure continues with step 1 and so on.
Note the vitamins - Lisa was on loads of vitamins, including vitamin B. There are references to vitamins and CalMag in the caretaker logs, and Katie Chamberlain's report of taking Lisa home for a nap mentions Lisa taking *600mg* of B-1 (thiamine). *1* mg is the US recommended daily allotment.
>From the little bit of reading I've done on excessive intake of B
vitamins, it seems possible that this would NOT "build the person up" - on the contrary, it can cause a person to feel weak or dizzy.
8. Patrizia Strecener testified that Alain Kartuzinski planned to put Lisa on the IR, and that she was on the preliminary steps:
10 Q. Okay. Did Mr. Kartuzinski ever mention to you 11 that once she was stabilized and returned to normal, we're 12 going to do what's called an introspective rundown? Was 13 that the plan? That was-- 14 A. Yeah. He didn't say to me about this, but I 15 know. 16 Q. That's what the procedure was? 17 A. Yeah. 18 Q. That's what goes next, after somebody becomes 19 back to normal? 20 A. Yeah. 21 Q. But you never got to that, right? 22 A. No. Well, I don't know.... yeesh, and others, I think. That's as much as I have time to go through right now.
9. And the testimony of Barbro Wennberg confirms that:
7 Q. Are you aware that Lisa was there at the cabana 8 for isolation to get her mental state back to normal so 9 she could participate in an introspective rundown cycle? 10 Were you aware of that? 11 Do you know what that means? 12 A. Yes, introspection, yeah, yeah, I mean -- 13 Q. Were you aware that was what was occurring? 14 A. Uh-huh. 15 Q. Is part of the plan for the introspective 16 rundown that somebody be calm and have their mental 17 faculties together? 18 A. Yes. 19 Q. So that was what the procedure that was going on 20 at the time you were there is to achieve that? 21 A. Yes, you could say that. We wanted to have her 22 in a good physical condition so she could get the 23 introspection rundown.
10. ... as does the testimony of Heather Petzold:
13 Q. Okay, were you given any instructions as to how 14 to proceed with her? I mean, eat, drink -- 15 A. This is what I was told, right? She needs to -- 16 we need to get her enough food and enough sleep so we can 17 get her on session. That is the purpose. We need to get 18 her -- 19 Q. A session? 20 A. A session. 21 Q. That was for -- that is otherwise known as 22 introspective rundown? 23 A. Yes, that is what she would probably get.
11. ... as does the testimony of Andrea J. Sprecher:
http://www.lisatrust.net/legal/lisa-criminal/cpd-cd/2281_dir/2281_13.htm - http://www.lisatrust.net/legal/lisa-criminal/cpd-cd/2281_dir/2281_14.htm http://www.lisatrust.net/legal/lisa-criminal/cpd-cd/2281_dir/2281_39.htm
I have some additional text from the Clearwater Police Department CD that I typed up ages ago and never uploaded. I'm going to try to upload that ASAP, and maybe soon I'll try to gather all the extant transcriptions from that CD and put it in a ZIP file. It's really handy to be able to do a search on all that text at once.
