Samir Azizi used aliases including ‘Al Capone’, ‘George Soros’ and ‘Warren Buffett’ to conduct his business
Investigators found Mohsin Salya’s German operation hard to penetrate. A break came when they managed to turn one of its young recruits.
Samir Azizi, an Afghan refugee who came to Germany as a baby, was 16 when he joined the Preston businessman’s suspected criminal enterprise in 2008.
Azizi, a computer expert who speaks five languages, claims he was flown to Las Vegas where he and an associate burnt through £150,000 a day on a suite at the five-star Wynn casino, complete with a butler, 24-hour limousine service and “two female companions”.
Azizi admitted to German investigators that he had had a “great time”.
He ended up running 11 companies registered in other people’s names.
