I signed a contract and paid in full to rent a car from 4 VIP Rent a Car located in Miami, FL. The car was to be delievered to Key West on 11/13 and we were to return the car at Miami International Airport on 11/14. I made the reservation in October and paid for the rental in full. I confirmed via email several times and even called and emailed on 11/11/11. We never received a call or email to advise us the car wasn’t coming. We waited for the car on 11/13 for an hour. We had paid $140 for football tickets and had to be in Miami by 1:00pm. The car did not show up. We called the office 5 times but no one answered. We had to rent a car at the last mintue and did not make it to Miami until 3:30pm and missed the football game. We also had to pay $55 for a cab ride to the airport. 4 VIP Rent a Car never called or emailed me to apologize or explain why the car never showed up. I was finally able to reach Felipe 5 days later who tried to tell me that the car got into an accident on the way to Key West. He quickly changed his story when I asked that he send me the accident report. I asked him to compensate us for our lost tickets and cab ride which he refused. It took the company 2 weeks to refund the rental fee only. I tried to call and email Felipe several times to try and reach a compromise as we feel that we should receive some compensation for our losses that were solely because 4 VIP rent a car failed to show up or notify us that the car was not coming. Felipe emailed me alomst 10 days later stating that the reason the car did not show up was because the previous renters got into an accident. This still does not explain why we were nor notified despite my phone calls and emails 2 days prior to our contracted date. We continue to seek $140 for our football tickets and $55 for the cab ride.
