I am 70 years old and had dental insurance up until two years ago; to pay $700.00 for 6 month coverage that only provided 50% of a cleaning or 35% of a periodontal visit, finally did not make sense. I have been to periodontists since I was 24 years old, most of these years with four visits per year. Recently I had two extractions and grafts for $2, 600.00 out-of-pocket; looking forward to implants in the near future. My complaint: why does the ADA not fight for the right and privilege of the mouth to be part of the human anatomy, just like an arm, or a leg, or a heart? Is it really a financial benefit to the dental profession? Why are patients so lackadaisical when it comes to what dental health insurance companies cover? Sincerely, Leon Papir [protected] [protected]@yahoo.com
