This broker and I had reached an agreement on a yacht that I wished to purchase. I signed the offer acceptance letter, obtained the requested deposit funds and scanned the signed paperwork in and emailed it as requested to secure the boat. That was Monday. Tuesday, I sent the paperwork and the deposit funds via courier (UPS) to be delivered on Thursday. On Thursday, the paperwork and deposit funds were received, but the broker informed me that they went ahead and sold the boat to another party on Wednesday that offered them more money than what we had agreed upon. The day AFTER my acceptance letter and deposit were sent. Avoid this broker. They will sell your new-to-you yacht out from under you if they get a chance. I worked very hard to make the deal happen and now I have to wait several weeks to get my deposit back. Their behavior is very unprofessional, discourteous and if it’s not illegal, it should be. The deal was struck and agreed to, once the paperwork and deposit were in the courier’s hands and verified via tracking number, the boat should have been mine. These guys are simply dishonest, unscrupulous and unprofessional. Avoid them if you value your sanity. They will screw you. The brokerage is named Admiral Yacht Sales, located in Saint Augustine, FL. The specific broker I dealt with is Ken Godwin. His email address is (email address removed by HolySmoke.org admin) and his phone number is (904) 237-2598. I’ll be preparing packets to send to the MN, FL and US Attorney’s General including email threads, text messages and voice conversation transcripts. This brokerage and its brokers should lose their licenses and ability to continue doing business.
