I received a charge on my QWest (local phone service) statement for a company and service I had never heard of. I immediately called the company and the phone rep insisted I had requested their services from my home computer. They did have my personal information but they didn’t get it from me. I told her that I do not use my home phone for long-distance calls and would never sign up for something I wouldn’t use! Nothing was resolved on the call and I sent an e-mail to the company – no response, so today I made another call and was told flattly that the charge would not be removed unless I sent a written letter, including my drivers license information, and it would be reviewed. WHY would they need DL info even if I was crazy enough to give it to them?! This company is committing fraud and they need to be stopped!
