So I recently moved to San Diego because my husband is in the Navy and stationed here like many others. After having a lot of bad luck after moving to California I finally found a job and my life began to get back to normal again. I picked up an extra shift the other night because I really needed to money. I’ve been unemployed for months now and have dug myself pretty deep in a financial hole. When leaving work I found that my side window had been broken. I was instantly upset, scared, and angry. Since it was late I just drove home because there wasn’t anything I could do there and looked up online place that fixed auto glass. All Star Glass had a good website and offered a quote online so I called first thing in the morning to set up an appointment. I was quoted a time between 1-5 and sat patiently at home waiting to get my car fixed. The service man showed up at about 3 and fixed my window. (Its only been a few hours since he fixed it so I don’t know if it will hold up yet I hope it does!) When I called I asked if I could pay by check because my husband had just enough money to cover the cost. He signed a blank check for me before he left for work. The guy on the phone said a check was no problem so I thought it would go off fine. When I went to pay the service man he promptly said that he did not accept a check with a out of state address on it. I had never occurred any problems with this in the past as my checks have always had my parents address on it since I move around a lot. He then asked for another form of payment and I told him I had none. I then asked to speak to his supervisor thinking that I could convince them to take my check this one time considering I am here for the military and they have all the other info they need i.e.: phone number, drivers license number, physical address, check address, cell phone. The manager was polite although he said he did not care about me being a part of a military family and had to take the glass already installed out of my car. I then got very upset and started crying because of all the bad stuff that had happened to me. Then the service man proceeded to threaten me if I did not let him take the glass out of my car. Finally I broke down and had to call my parents to give a credit card number to pay for the services. He then insisted that he would not take the credit card and that he had called the cops and left. I went inside to call his supervisor back to pay since I am no thief or liar unlike what they were accusing me of. I am highly unsatisfied with their service and don’t like being threatened especially in front of my own house. I discussed with the supervisor that clearly I understand there is a reason they don’t take out of state checks but if they don’t tell people when they make appointments that this will probably happen again because of the mobility of the population they serve. They did not seem to care about my circumstances all they wanted to do was be mean and threaten me like I did something wrong. I really did try to pay the man as soon as he was done. I feel like I did nothing wrong by handing him a good check that I was positive would clear. I feel like I was victimized twice when my window was broken and then again when I had it fixed. Upon further investigation online I found that the office of All Star Glass is right around the corner from where I work. They have been accused online of breaking windows at night for business the next day. Now there is no way for me to know if they did it to me or not but, nothing was stolen from my car and there is no explanation to why my window was broken. I can only pray that I do not fall victim to them again. I would never recommend this company even to my worst enemy. Rachel Imperial Beach, CaliforniaU.S.A.
