I bought a warranty through Carchex.com, for an Alpha warranty. I bought the warranty that most closely resembled a “bumper to bumper” warranty from a dealership. It was purchased in 2016 for a term of 4 years or 100k miles, whichever came first. Currently, I have 99500 miles on my car and it had to go in the shop. Upon inspection by the mechanic, I needed a filter housing to stop an oil leak, and an axel. Both, should be covered by the warranty, but to my surprise, they will not cover the axel, obviously the more expensive repair. My mechanic did tell me that since I was so close to the expiration of the warranty, they were going to try and weasel out of as much as they could. He was right! An adjuster came out and blamed a torn boot on the axel for a reason to deny the claim…as if i went under the car and tore the boot myself!!! I looked over the contract and I completely understand that “wear” items, such as brake pads and rotors are not covered, but there is no mention of an axel as a “wear” item. So, my advise to you is…BEWARE of Alpha Warranty Service. I am within my contract and they have BROKEN IT. I thought I could save a few bucks by getting an Alpha warranty, instead of the one offered at the dealership when I bought my car…but now in the long run, IT COST ME MORE! I do hope at least one person reads this and makes an educated decision. I’m paying the price for my poor decision, literally.
