I have never worked with a dealer or anyone as deceptive and shady as this dealer and salesman. We traveled to Ocala looking for a fifth wheel and found one at this dealership we really liked. We had a trade in back home and decided to think about it. We called back that night and said we would do it. We went down 3 days later to have the fifth wheel hitch and trailer brakes installed and pick up the unit. On our way bad luck struck, tire blew causing damage to floor of camper. Called salesaman, reassured us “we would work it all out, it will be ok”. Get there, of course have to add to price of new camper for damage. Ok, fine (too much in my opinion but…). plus we find out they charge full labor even when buying the camper there. So then we find out they are trying to install a manual hitch instead of automatic ($1400 difference). They argued and lied saying that is what we chose and the rest of cost was in 4 hours of labor (which they charge $118/hr) doesnt add up correct? Finally they give in once they decide it wont work for our truck anyways and actually will damage the truck so they order a different one but now we have to stay the night in their campground and install in am. Wer live 1.5 hours away, had nothing packed so walmart here we come. ($150 later) Stay the night with 3 small kids, raining so cant get out plus no vehicle, toilet and shower pressure problems to boot. Then noon comes and goes so we text the salesman and he says it will be a couple more hours, then we find out they had once again ordered the wrong hitch and now had to special order a new one but reassured it would be done that day. 4:00 comes and still no call so we call asking what is going on and are told they did not get it in and it would not be done that day. Now we are a little angry from the lying, deceptiveness and the lack of ability of the service department to do what should be a routine thing for them. We speak to the manager and he is going to ” throw in some gas and a pressure monitor for the water pressure problem”. We go home and start worrying……then question our vehicles ability to tow this camper. Afterall our salesman said it would be fine right? So we find out 1/2 ton vehicles hould not really tow a fifth wheel plus we do not have a tow package so we are at our max towing capability without any cargo. We text the salesman, think we have him convinced and he says ok, come down we will be ok. So we go down, deal is already signed submitted but we will be ok. They continue to try and convince us how our truck owners manual is generic and not right but his book at the desk is right. Then he calls the nissan service department that coroborates his story (I think they were friends). We insist on driving to Nissan and leave our vehicle to get trailer brakes installed while we are gone. We confront the service guy and he states ” oh i looked it up you are right it does not tow 9400 but only 7400. Now, back at the dealership once they decide they have lost that battle they will put us in a pull behind that we can tow. Long story short……we walk out paying the same price for a 27ft travel trailer as a 30 ft fifth wheel(which are priced higher) with the same exact camper except space. They charged us a $500 restocking fee for the hitch, $400 for labor, and the list goes on…….They tried to charge for 8 hours labor since their incompetent service department took so long but we fought that one. We signed papers as we had lost our fight by this point. I walk outside to find our truck with the fifth wheel hitch installed and camper on it because nobody communicated to install the brakes not the hitch. So we leave once again with no trailer brakes,no camper in tow and have to make another trip still to pick it up. You may think this cant have really happened right? Sorry……this is our wonderful experience with american choice rv. Never again. .
