I finally renovated my bathroom after 25 years. Wanted to choose “better” fixtures than Home Depot so I went to GPS to get commericial or better grade fixtures. They were more expensive but I was willing to pay for the quality. Parts were on back order. It was the Portsmouth Model 7420801.224 in what was supposed to be Oil Rubbed Bronze. Two sets. The sets I received were more coppery than the blacker color I chose in the store so they didn’t match my new bathroom. Nor did they match each other. They are definitely two different colors/shades. After about only two months of use, I started to see signs. The clear coating on the faucets was peeling, more on the one I use more than the other, but both had the same problems, looking whitish and turning green. I didn’t understand how they could get this dirty so fast, but after wiping them realized that the coating was rotting off of the fixtures and turning the copper fixtures green. What the hell! I wrote to American Standard and sent pictures. They replied that I must’ve used harsh cleaners on it. I did not. And/or I have hard water. Well, I’ve always had hard water and never this problem with any other fixtures in my house, which includes the cheap ones from Home Depot. She said she is ordering new sets however, they will have the same problem. I also asked that American Standard pay for the plumber to install the new fixtures but Amanda said that is not their policy. But, it was their policy that they get paid for their product and I paid them. I do not have the money nor do I feel it is my responsibility to pay another plumber to replace the fixtures since I already paid once and this is not my wrongdoing, but the manufacture of the product itself. Since when is using water from your faucet a wrong thing? That’s what they’re meant to do. I told her I would prefer a refund since the same thing will happen with the new set she is sending.
