Their Client Was at Fault and We Both Got the Shaft!
I was involved in a car accident in Sept 2011. Here it is, 2013 and it is still not resolved. Their client ran a light and broadsided my car. They wouldn’t pay my car repairs to my satisfaction and still have not paid for all of it. They kept telling me that I should have had eyes on the right side of my face and because I didn’t I was partially at fault. Lol.
The lady that hit me had their insurance and they screwed her over too. She had a brand-new Toyota which was totaled. They gave her a car that was three years older than her new car. As she put it, “They gave me this old stinky, sweaty replacement and told me to take it or leave it!”
In my opinion, this is the worst company I have ever dealt with to this date in time. One excellent tip: Do not give any statement to the opposing insurance company. Tell them to contact your attorney. Of course this is based on what I learned and is in no way legal advice, always consult your local laws.
Feel Sorry For You If You Are The Victim Or Insured
Do not buy this insurance that is sold through Costco. Doesn’t matter whether you are victim or insured you will get screwed. Yes this is the same company that we bailed out in 2008 and they still continue screwing us Americans! Don’t let them get you!!! Read below story:
I was involved in an auto accident last September 2011. This lady ran a red light while I was making a left turn. I was 90+ percent into my turn when she hit me. Immediately Ameriprise wanted to ding me 15% because they say I should have had eyes behind my head and swerved to miss their insured and hit the pickup truck that was to the immediate left of me.
Not only did they ding me, but they also screwed their own insured by giving her an “old sweaty three-year old car”. They wouldn’t replace her new Toyota! The agents you deal with are “rude” and “unprofessional”. Their agents can’t even spell their name correctly! That’s the caliber of personnel you are dealing with.
First off, do not give them any information over the phone or written communication especially if you are the victim because they will use it against you. Only say something like “their insured hit me” and keep repeating that. Get an attorney especially if you are the victim because they will not settle with you unless you do.
Low Balls to Get You to Switch, Then Rate Increases With Renewals! Stay Away
I switched from Geico to Ameriprise through Costco. STAY AWAY! They low ball you then increase your rates with every renewal! I have never made a claim with them, yet every renewal they increase my premiums. When I call and ask why, they always give a different excuse. The latest, “We’ve realigned our rates for your area because of claims we’ve had.” None of those claims were by me. God forbid I make a claim, what would my premiums do then? Later losers, I’m insurance shopping again!
This Company Sucks. Don't Buy Through Them, They Rip People Off
Don’t buy insurance through this company. I shop Costco and after dealing with this company, I would never buy their insurance ever. They never return your phone call, make you jump through hoops to get your car repaired and deny any type of extra days for rental car if yours is not ready on time from the repair shop. If you have a choice, go through your insurance company and bypass this company if you have a choice in the matter. Better yet hire a lawyer.
Ameriprise Financial Reviews & Complaints
Ameriprise Financial in Warren, NJ was recommended to me by my former colleague at work. The advisor I dealt with seemed honest and trustworthy and that convinced me to open an account at Ameriprise and transferred my 401K and pension funds which were at that time earning about 30% and 5% respectively at GSK. I opened the Ameriprise account in December 2013 (believing that this Ameriprise advisor can do better) and entrusted him the management of the account indicating to him that my goal was to grow the 401K for my kids. He created 3 subaccounts, annuity/insurance (funded by the pension fund plus about 1/3 of the 401K [why?], with pension deferred for 2 years [why?]) and 2 separate stock portfolios (funded by the balance of the 401K). Then my nightmares started. He was investing in mutual funds with the highest front loads and highest expense ratio; he was buying and selling mutual funds which are intended for long term investment; only 6 out of twelve mutual funds were hardly earning; he invested in depressed Europe stocks all of which were consistently giving negative results. By October 2014, after 10 months with Ameriprise, my account was diving downward loosing significantly in a bullish market that is over 10% high. I did not feel or see that my funds were being managed with my interest in his mind. By November 2014, I decided to close all accounts before the damage become unmanageable. It was a costly account closure with over $30, 000 penalty in one sub account alone plus fees and other charges. One more thing, he never highlighted to me the fees being charged on the account, over $500 each month plus the annual fee of $750. It was a very costly experience for me. The lesson here is to avoid Ameriprise financial advisor/broker and perhaps other brokers too as they work for fees and commissions in buying and selling stocks!! Personally manage your portfolio so you can sleep at night!!
Ameriprise Financial Reviews & Complaints
An Ameriprise-insured driver rear-ended me on the freeway in Southern California in December of 2014. After two years of chronic back pain and associated doctor and physical therapy visits, the Ameriprise Insurance representative belittled and insulted me and claimed that all of my pain was mental and not associated. I obtained legal representation, since their offer was only $2000 despite pages of legitimate medical bills. It went all the way to a trial in August 2018 in Los Angeles. After 6 days of court with a jury and judge, a verdict of over $1 million dollars was awarded to me for pain, suffering, spinal surgery, and future costs. Ameriprise has just simply not paid. They believe they do not have to. They put the amount on their clients, the insured through Costco. Amerprise led them to a trial by not simply settling with me, then they are legally on the hook for the rest of the over $1million. My surgery and other procedures bills have not been paid, my lawyers have not been paid, and I have had no compensation *despite a judge and jury verdict*! They have now asked for mediation. What is the point of wasting a week”s worth of strangers time in jury service for this case? Would any of us be able to simply ignore verdicts?

They will save you $450 by discounting what they pay out to the victim and put the $450 in their general fund. In other words this insured will wind up paying me $2000.00 through our court system because they would not protect their

From Well Fargo I received June 17, 20016 “Unable to locate the account number by the name or account provided. This account number cannot be located, or it is not a Well Fargo account. I have had this account for over ten years. I called Ameriprise. Their poorly trained rep admitted they closed the account, they didn’t have to tell me, and I had no right to it, including the$1, 932.34 deposited into it. He refused to open my account, he refused to tell where they had put my money, but he did tell me I “had wasted 30 minutes of his time.” Ameriprise Customer Service need to fire this jerk. They stole my $1, 932.34

I called to get a quote for my wife”s son and compare auto insurance companies. And I told the man helping me on the phone that they were higher than the company he is with and he added him to my auto insurance policy anyway and then I told the auto insurance companyI didn”t add him to my policy and they sent me a exclusion form to fill out and send in witch I did and then I was billed on my credit card. So I called the auto insurance company and the customer service said I would be reimbursed EXCEPT for the days they put him on my policy witch I didn”t authorize. What a scam. I would appreciate your help in this matter.

I elected to close my IRA annuity that I had held with Ameriprise/Riversourse for 12 years and roll it over to another brokerage institution. After receiving all the appropriate paperwork they closed my account. In discussion they advised me it would take 8 days from closing the account to issue a paper check that would be mailed to my new brokerage firm. So this puts me out of market for close to two weeks and fattens their return by using my money. This is simply greed. Absolutely no excuse for 8 days to transfer and then not to transfer electronically. Such a shame Ameriprise elected to leave such a bad taste with me.
Ameriprise Financial Reviews & Complaints
I have a 95 year old blind mother that has 4 annuities with RiverSource. Mom wants to make withdrawals from these annuities. I called Riversource to set up a withdrawal and was told they needed to talk to mom. I explained that mom was 95 and blind but that she could verify that it was ok to talk to me. At that point I handed the phone to mom and the first question the representative asked her was to give them the 13 digit account number!! Mom handed me the phone and when I told the representative that I had already provided that information she said that was not sufficient and my blind mom would somehow have to read them the number!! That would not work so we decided to complete an attorney in fact authorization. I have submitted a notarized attorney in fact authorization signed by my mom. Riversource acknowledges receipt of that authorization and acknowledges that it provides full authority including withdrawals and online access. I tried to help mom add two external bank accounts so she could withdraw funds. Unfortunately I made an error on one of the account numbers and the online account was locked. I called Ameriprise (Riversource) and was told that only mom could unlock online access. I live several hundred miles away from mom and for over an hour tried to explain that mom was 95 and blind and has no way to call or to answer any of the questions that they would need answered. On the other hand I am an attorney in fact and have all passwords etc etc. After an hour of being transferred back and forth from customer service to web support and back again I finally asked to be transferred to someone who spoke fluent English. I was transferred and even though the person that answered understood the issue offered no assistance other than to try a three way call to my mom who does not answer the phone. He acknowledged that the attorney in fact (that was sent to me by Ameriprise) gives full authority to make any withdrawal and online access but he would not authorize unlocking the account. He further stated that he had checked with their general counsel and was told that he could not unlock it. It makes zero sense that I can call and authorize a full withdrawal and access her accounts online but I can”t unlock online access.. Seven members of our family have investments with Ameriprise/Riversource and, when tax consequences permit, all accounts will be closed.
Ameriprise Financial Reviews & Complaints
I have been insured by Ameriprise since 2011. I recently submitted an insurance claim, as I was rear-ended by another vehicle. The other driver took responsibility. During the claim, it came to the adjuster”s attention that I carry some tools for my work in my truck. Shortly after filing the claim, I received a notice in the mail from Ameriprise that insurance on my truck was cancelled because my truck is used for hauling tools. I think this should have been investigated when I obtained the insurance in 2011. The insurance company should have become informed by asking the right questions at that time and I could have gone elsewhere and gotten insurance that would not have been cancelled. I am just frustrated that I have to take the time to obtain other insurance. However, I will never recommend Ameriprise to anyone. I will also remove my car and my home from being insured by Ameriprise.
Ameriprise Financial Reviews & Complaints
I set up my son in a CESA a few years ago. At the time we were told that there was no minimum monthly investment due to the fact that it was a qualified educational savings account. However, recently we started noticing fees for the quarters there was no activity. We decided that due to the fact that this supposed pollicy had changed, gave an order to sell our shares and close the account. Three weeks after our request to close our account they finally sent a check that was 20% less than what the closing amount was.
