I only wish someone else had written this warning for me. For anyone traveling from out of town that thinks this is a normal Aveda Salon, think again. I will preface this report by saying this is not a personal attack on the salon owner. I don’t know her. This report is about the salon itself and the level of service I receieved. I came in from NY on Vacation. I have been going to Aveda Salons for over 15 years. I have never had a problem once. That’s because typically there is a level of consistancy with the level of service you recieve no matter what Aveda you choose to go to. What a rude awakening I got today. Number one, when I walked in the door I should have walked right back out. There was only one stylest (the owner), though there were about eight stylest chairs. Also, the guest waiting chairs had dirt and dog hair on them!!!! How incredably disgusting. Where did the dog hair come from you ask? The owner has her big dogs with her in the salon right out in the guest area. Nothing against the dogs, btw. I love dogs. It’s not their fault their owner doesnt have common sense and doesn’t take any pride in cleaning up the place. Yuck! Anyway, after noticing no one there and the place being filthy, I should have left. I don’t know why I didn’t. I end up waiting for about 10 minutes and then get seated for my consultation. I tell the stylest (the owner of the salon and the only stylest there) exactly what I wanted. I also made sure to specifcally say that when tapering my sideburns to please be careful because sometimes they can get patchy if the person is not paying attention. I said this multiple times. Btw, I am a 30 year old male that has a full head of healthy hair. During my haircut, the owner (while actually cutting my hair) looked away several times to talk to people coming in the door. She even stopped midway through cutting my hair to sell someone some product. Flash forward 20 minutes and I look at my sideburns. I was utterly schocked to find that they were full of holes!!!! Not only that, but the sides of my head were cut unevenly. I pointed this out to the owner and all she said was “I’m sorry. I don’t know how that happened. It shouldnt of, I’m sorry.” Well, guess what??!! It’s too late for an I’m sorry. I have holes on my scalp and now I’ll have to walk around the next 4-6 weeks like this. Can’t wait to see my proffesional clients! I told the owner this a couple of time and she said she didn’t need a lecter. I wasn’t lectering her, but it sounds like she has given this speach before. I wonder how many other problems they have had at this salon. So, I closed my mouth and walked out the door. Btw, don’t believe the four yelp reviews for Anant. It is so easy to fake a yelp review!! Of course, the owener didn’t charge me the measly $25 for my haircut, but what do I care. I would have gladly paid $100 to have my hair cut by someone that was paying attention to what they were doing, and really knew how to cut hair in the first place. Bottom line, this is a 3rd rate salon and it is absolutly crazy they are asocated with Aveda. The place is just cringeworthy. The annant website looks so nice, but the reality is that it’s like getting your hair cut in a barn. Seriously! It’s filthy! FYI, I placed a call to Aveda corporate to let them know what kind of place this is. I actually got an interesting tidbit of information: Anyone can call themselves an Aveda salon so long as they are purchasing Aveda products! All Aveda salons are individually owned. The stylest do not even have to be Aveda trained! All this time, I never knew that. If you are coming into to town for vacation, avoid this place like the plague!! Get your haircut in a nice resort if you are able. At least there you should have a standard of quality and some accountability. You have been warned! Don’t let this happen to you!
