I attended the Art Institute Online back in 2005 despite the advice against it of other web designers I knew personally. I wanted to go to what I thought was a reputable school to get an education on building web sites. The Web Design Diploma was the only somewhat affordable program they had, as I saw the Bachelor’s program was something like $85K…ridiculous! I took a few classes and called them letting them know that I wasn’t learning anything that I didn’t already know or couldn’t learn watching a YouTube tutorial and they convinced me to stick with it for a few more classes, at least, since those classes were introductory. After I took a few more classes and still felt I was wasting my time and money, I was convinced again that the services to help me land a job in web design when I’m done with the program would be worth the money paid for the tuition. Nearly 10 years after my graduation of the Web Design diploma, I’m still trying to pay off my loan on a program that should have only been $16K…and I still have $10K left, when they said that it was at most 10 years to pay it off. WTF?!? This is not the first time I’m reporting the Art Institute…I tried to report it with the BBB and that didn’t go anywhere. I contacted them directly asking for my money back and that didn’t go anywhere. I tried to explain the situation to the one who has taken over the loan I took out, and they had no empathy or ability to do anything. Now as I just paid another payment on my loan, I’m compelled to try to complain again…convinced that I’m just wasting my time, but perhaps I can at least save some people from wasting their time and money going to this “school”. I want all my money back…but I would even settle for not having to pay any more on this loan for, as I didn’t learn anything that was even worth a fraction of what I’ve paid for this school. .
