I bought a left over 2000 Ford Focus in January of 2001. I bought it because I have a 4 year old son, and I have family a couple of hours away that I couldn’t visit because my car wouldn’t stop breaking down. Within the first few months of having my Focus, I had to take it to Autoway Ford for the car not starting. My clutch sensor wouldn’t engage..The first 3x’s they looked at it, they couldn’t “Reproduce the problem”, finally, the 4th time of taking it in for the exact same thing, they found it, and fixed it. Within a couple of weeks, I had to take the car in for the same problem, and the windshield wiper motor had been recalled. The part from the first repair was leaking, so they had to put in a new one, and they told me and wrote in the receipt that they had fixed the recall, which was a fire hazard. Come to find out, when I took the car in again a few weeks later, they had conviently forgotten to fix this fire hazard, then before I left w/ my car after they were done, I asked if they had fixed it, and he told me that they had forgotten again! I take my son’s safety very seriously, and I am afraid to drive him anywhere! I have had many more problems w/ my car, and I am no mechanic, and they seem to take more advantage over women, and I knew what repairs needed to be made and the signs of what was wrong, yet they said that they couldn’t find the problem! I had 3 other mechanics look at the car and test drive it, and they told me right away what was wrong.This car has also stalled on me on one of the busiest highways around here, while it was in motion. Luckily, my son was not w/ me. Conviently, after all of the problems I have had, the extended warranty company cancelled me, saying that it was due to non-pay..They never sent any letters, except for the “You were cancelled” letter. They told me that they sent it, but it’s funny that I only got that one! Also, come to find out, when I looked into trading the rolling time bomb, I am $7,000 upside down and there is nothing I can do about it.. I was also told not to count on the Lemon Law because there are so many fine print requirments. I will try anyway. But, if you care about your life, and your family’s lives, don’t buy this lemon, you will regret it! Autoway Ford unresponsive to all my complaints. Carrie Pinellas Park, Florida
