Barber Auto service did repair to my van. It supposedly needed a new powere steering pump. The owner told me that a pump would cost $106, I commented the I was told $45. Said if I wanted to buy he would put in knowing that I couldn’t get around without my van. He charged me for tow when his add in phonebook says free tow with major repair. When I went to get van he told me that it needed a new rack N pinion. Asked what it would cost said he would get back with me. He didn’t I called twice said had forgotten would get back with me did not. I found another machnic to work on it. The first thing he noticed was the the belt wasn’t on one of the pulleys fully. Then he told me that the pump wasn’t new. After replacing rack n pinion. They put fluid in and it all ranout of the pump said that the pump was leaking not the rack in pinion. Barber’s said pump was under warranty but llabor wasn’t. I can’t afford another $106 for them to replace a part that was already bad. I believe he planned for this to happen so he could make more moneyI got van back 8-6-04 it sat till 8-14-04 when it went into shop for rack n pinion. Patricia Lake City, FloridaU.S.A.
