My 88 yearold mother has purchased jewelry from Belden Jewelers. She also bought an extended stone replacement warranty. The catch is that you have to bring your jewelry in every six months for the warranty to remain valid, as in the facets, inspected. my mother faithfully brought her jewlry in every six months for fourteen years. In 2013 and in 2014 she brough a ring in that lost the stone. In both cases she was charged ober $100. In her behalf I contacted Beldon Customer Care. They replied with a case number and called me a few days later and explained that there was only one record of her coming in to have the jewelry inspected. I asked if the store had the record of her visits and was told that no, the store has no records and that it is the responsibbility of the customer to obtain these records. Why wouuldn’t a store have such records ? THis is how they have designed their bogus warranty that they push on you when ever you buy a ring or jewelry with stones. ‘We will replace a stone if it falls out free of charge as long as you bring in your item for inspection every six months”. Yea, that is if you bring in a Notary Public and have him stamp an affidavit and have the store employees witness and sign it. Becasue Beldon keeps no such records. Obviously 88 year old woman are not off limits to this store. So we can at least say they don’t descriminate. This is deplorable. THe customer care person would not budge. It was left with “just produce the records of her 14 bi-annual inspections and bring them to the store and we can address it”. This is one of the worst cases of ripping off the eldrly that I have seen. This company does not stand behind their product unless you pay them. I am completely disgusted and appalled.
