This company is part of other individual auto repair shops, all operating under the name American Care Centers. They are the ones located in Layton/Kaysville Utah. Here’s the story. I needed a water pump repaired so I called them for a quote… they wanted to charge 740.00 to replace a water pump. I already called around to the other American car care franchise shops and they were quoting 327.00 for the whole job. I called a few other places that were not a part of the Franchise and the price ranged from 320.00 for 400.00. The one quote for 400.00 offered to change the timing belt even. (not sure if it’s called the timing belt, but it was some belt.) When they called me back for the quote, they boasted that they use quality parts and would change the timing belt. Here’s the kicker, I was in there once before trying to use a coupon for an Emission and Inspection, and they tried the ole find something else wrong with the car to make up for the discount. They said I needed new back brakes.. I said ok, I will change them and come back tomorrow. When I came back the next day, they did not even look at my back breaks to see if it was actually done… they hastily rang me up for the inspection. You could tell they were annoyed. Maybe they lost money for the discount in the inspection, I don’t know why they were pissed. So now back to the original quote. When they called me back to tell me the price would be 740.00, out of the blue, they asked me If I had been in before… lol they remembered me and wanted to gouge me I guess. They are close to my house so I thought I’d give them one more shot; maybe they weren’t trying to gouge me last time… turns out they were! BEWARE!!! THEY WILL “TRY” to GOUGE YOU!!!! I changed my own water pump years ago and it was a pain, so I know what was involved. He tried feeding some b.s about having to get the belts tight, and they it’s a major technical job…. geez!!!! I hope this warning will save you the heart ache of being ripped off.
