My husband had wanted a car for a very long time. On his birthday, I decided to surprise him by gifting him a brand-new BMW. I had asked a few of my friends who were car enthusiasts. I was suggested different models by different people and so, keeping in mind all of the probable options, I made a list. I then made tables with rows and columns and compared important features of every car side by side. After a lot of thinking and comparing, I finally found the best of it all. Now the only thing that was left was to go and check out the model at an authorized BMW showroom. The nearest one was the BMW of Darien.
When I went to BMW of Darien, the salesperson there was quite hell-bent on showing me all the cars. Even when I told him repeatedly the name of the model that I wanted to take a look at, he insisted that I check out other probable options. After a lot of insistence, I finally gave in. I was shown all types of cars – right from the sedans to hatchbacks to SUVs. It was honestly quite frustrating to look at cars that I had the least bit of interest in. When I could not take it anymore, I told the salesperson to show me the model I had requested for when I came into the place. After a lot of thinking, he finally took me to the car. I still do not know the reason why he took that much of the time to take me to the car. I had to ask him the features and I was surprised to see him stutter while telling me the features. I had already made up my mind to purchase that car as it seemed like the perfect one for my husband. Its colour, its elegance – all of it seemed magnificent. The only thing that was left for me was to take a test drive and make a payment.
I told the salesperson that I wanted to test the car’s performance by taking a test drive. At first, he did not respond. When I asked him for a second time, he denied my request and when I asked for a reason, I heard the words come out of his mouth which made me lose my cool. He said and I quote – “I don’t trust women with cars”. I could not believe he had just said it. I wanted to explain some basic things but given the moron he was, I decided not to say anything. I complained to the manager and walked out of there. While walking out, I saw that the salesperson and manager both were laughing.
I realized what a horrible mistake I had made by going to BMW of Darien. I would not recommend anyone else to make the same mistake I did by going to that damned place where there is not a shred of class and etiquette in people.
