I was advised by a colleague to go for a certified pre-owned car and I too liked the idea. So, I started asking about pre-owned cars and another one of colleagues told me about BMW of Sarasota. I Googled the name and to my surprise, the place was not far away. On the website, I checked the listed options and they seemed quite affordable. After some thinking, I decided to go down to the place and check the car out myself.
On a Saturday, I went to BMW of Sarasota. The showroom was quite beautiful and the cars on display seemed quite appealing. Since I did not want to buy a new one, I got hold of a passing staff member and asked him about whom I should talk to regarding my interest in buying a certified pre=owned vehicle. After looking at me for sometime blankly, he told me to wait. When there was no sign of him even after half an hour, I decided to search for the manager of the place myself. I finally got hold of him. He did not seem to be in a good mood. He called a guy who seemed like a salesperson and told him to attend to me.
I told the salesperson all about the car that I had selected for myself online. He told me that he would need to check the inventory to see the availability of the car. He came back after a while and told me that the car was available. I was quite happy on hearing this. He gave me an estimate which exceeded far beyond the price of the car. When I asked him why the extra cost, he told me the names of a variety of ‘necessary’ charges. When I told him that I did not need a new wrap among other things, I was refused and that too, quite rudely. After some discussion, he told me they can give me the car at the price they had mentioned on the site. But when I made the payment to them, they added it as an ‘instalment’ in the invoice. They CHARGED ME THE HIGHER PRICE!! Even when the sales guy had assured me that I will get the lower charges, he didn’t keep his word. These guys trapped me. They scammed me by lying to me about the rates they were going to charge me. They are criminals.
See, my problem is what is the point of stating a lower price on the website? Would it make the car sales go through the roof? I hope that they make a few improvements at the place, especially regarding the attitude of the people working there and they should also be professional enough to state the actual cost of a vehicle on their official website. I would not recommend any person to go there for anything since I would not like anyone else to experience the humiliation and embarrassment that I did. You might get scammed too!
