After our weekly meeting, I was screamed at by a member because I was using another member of the chapter for my client that I had given her a referral. She in turn sub contracted the work to this other member of the chapter and had told the client this and confirmed by an email. Next thing I knew, the membership meeting was cancelled and I had a private meeting with the president and vp who told me that this was to avoid embarrassing me. Well the next twenty minutes I found out that there were complaint about my professional services and my actions on the membership committee. I was the member in charge of verifying referrals. I was even told that I did not know what a referral was. Never was I told the actual complaint nor who made the complaint. I received first a notice that my membership was not going to be renewed which was expiring in two months. As I was scheduled to do my presentation the following week the vp sent me an email saying that they felt it was not a good idea. After numerous attempts to obtain the names and the nature of the complaint, I got no where. I also went up to the chapter’s director and he was of no use at all. Finally I gave up as the last straw was when the director said that he needed to get their permission as he stated “Before I can give you this information, I must first get permission from the complaining persons since this is a matter between you and them, which I have requested.” Never heard further. I had numerous problems with the vp. The president had asked the vp to remove a referral from me to him. She wrote me a nasty email about this but I had never issued a referral. It was such a farce as weekly she received all of the referrals of the week. Prior to this, I had to go over her head to the director for I had presented four internal referrals but she wanted to treat them as one. The director ruled in my favor. So be warned. If you are not in the executive committee of the chapter, you will be subject to imposition of the rules by the three members. It was to bad that it ended this way. I was a founding member of the chapter and had put myself out numerous times for the benefit of the chapter. It has been three years since this occurred but I regret not following up and getting the full details. .
