I purchased a truck from BOWIE MOTOR CO. The trucks air conditioning didn’t work to begin with so they agreed to fix it. After they fixed the AC I drove the car home only to find out the next morning the truck wouldn’t start. The owner refused to pay for towing but did agree to “fix” the problem. The next time I picked up my “repaired” truck I got as far as the shopping center 3 blocks down the road before it wouldn’t start. Again I was forced to haggle with the owner over towing. He finally agreed to pay for towing but said he could not pick it up until the next day. Therefore I was forced to abandon my truck at the shopping center and find a ride home. After finally repairing the original problem my truck began having a new problem. This time the truck was no longer under waranty so I was forced to pay for the repair. Although I was told the truck would be looked at the next day my truck sat for a week before ever being looked at. TOM the mechanic finally cotacted me to inform me of this new problem and asked me if he should install the new part the right way or take a short cut, promising that either way was just as good. I responded, “Do it the right way. Don’t take any shortcuts”. He said ok,did the work, and charged me 504.72 which included 2 hours labor. The truck ran for about 2 weeks before the same problem began reoccuring. At this point I was fed up with BOWIE MOTOR CO. So I had the truck towed to a GMC dealer who informed me that the same part I just had replaced was burned up. He showed me where it had been installed wrong and how the old one had never been removed. I immediatley contacted the owner of BOWIE MOTOR CO. and told him of my problem. His response was that he would replace the part because it was under waranty from the dealer but that his mechanic said I told him to install the part like that. I then informed him of the fact that I had done no such thing and I repeated my version of my conversation with TOM the mechanic. He did not believe my story and he told me I would have to pay for labor if I wanted him to fix it. I told him just to get the part and I would have someone else fix it. Later that evening I went to BOWIE MOTOR COMPANY to drop off the broken part and to request that the owner reimburse me for the money I had given him for labor[150.00]. I told him that I had just watched a guy change the part in 2 minutes and yet his store charged me for 2 hours. I also informed him that I would take him to court if he wouldn’t refund my money. The owner still insisted that all this was my fault and he was not giving me any money. The owner and I were in the middle of rehashing the conversation I had had with TOM the mechanic when he stopped and said,”Hold on now you’re going to piss him off”.He returned with a large man who was TOM the mechanic. TOM began yelling about me being a liar and ended by telling me he was going to “Knock my block off”. He then stormed out and the owner held firm and backed him up. I remained very polite with the owner but was not even offered an apology from the owner. Joshua ODENTON, MarylandU.S.A.
