Boynton Beach, FL red light cameras are not about safety, but all about money. If it was about safety, they could increase the yellow light time a couple of seconds to give drivers time to stop. When a yellow light is burned out, they need to warn drivers so that they will be extra cautious when approaching the intersection. If they haven’t given fair warning, then they should not issue a violation notice, or atleast not uphold the violation since they are partially to blame. Since the fees are very costly, they need to offer a payment program for those unable to pay the fine in full. When drivers receiving a notice of violation choose to attend a hearing in their own defense, at an additional fee, it should not feel as though the hearing officer (who is not a police officer) has already made their decision prior to the hearing.
