BP Amoco

I attempted to fill up my car, and received $.23 of gasoline. It was the silver grade. Apparently the tank was out of gas. I looked around the station and some other tanks had a handwritten sign that said “only regular”. I left. The next morning i refueled at another station, as this one was getting it’s delivery, and I didn’t want to wait. Within 8 miles from receiving the $.23, indicator lights went on on the dashboard. To cut to the chase, I brought the car to the dealer, it is a 2003 Toyota Avalon, with less than 20k miles. After cleaning 1 fuel injector, the car still wasn’t right, so the mechnic looked further. There was crap in my gas tank, and now throughout my engine. It was mud, sludge, etc. This must have come from the fuel at the bottom of the tank at the fueling station. After a $1400.00 repair, and no guarantee that there willl not be other problems, I am furious. The mechanic gave me a sample of what he removed from my engine, it is black as coal, and has some solid sediment. What do I do first? BP should reimburse me for this repair, as the gas pump should have been disabled/locked if there was no more gas, right? Le me hear from you!! Jill bellmore, New YorkU.S.A.
