After successfully applying for an online payday loan I began receiving phonecalls from a 916 phone number. When I finally answered the phone, a man with an accent claiming he was from the state attorneys office told me I had a felony warrant for my arrest. When I asked for the case number of this alleged felony charge he told me I was not entitled to it, and if I didn’t want a warrant issued for my arrest I needed to pay off my fines. When I asked for an account number I was told that a warrant would be issued for me to be arrested at my place of employment. I told the man on to do what he needed to then and not to call me anymore. He said “F— You!” and hung up on me. He then called me back and told me that I would have all five of my children taken away (I don’t have five children so I have no idea where he came up with this number…) After hanging up the phone I googled the phone number to find that I was not the only person this con-man tried to swindle money from. Be informed and always double check whos calling alleging to be and official of any court.
