I have a brother that is mentally ill and has an auto loan with this bank. He is currently hospitalized and has no means of paying. In this case the family is stepping up to make the account current, everybody is helping in some way, as the bank has already been calling my 84 year old father, no one wanted to give them their phone number. I was volunteered to communicate with Brookline Bank, I do not have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is after calling the bank and traversing through their automated system (each time very cumber sum and annoying, i suppose they do that to protect them, you know, its ok if they have all your information, but why should the people they are harassing have anything but a first Name) Anyway when I called them today. First I tried to reach the person on the account I had been talking to, “not in the office yet” ok, please connect me to his voicemail “ok fine” i was told, thank you I replied “no problem”. To my surprise (although not too surprised knowing these folks at Brookline bank collections) Now I get Joshua, “how can I help you”, sorry I was looking to leave Larry a voicemail regarding my brothers account, “Larry and i are working this account together” ok. I call to inform you that after a long internal family debate, we (the family) decided to make the account current. “How much was paid” I do not know, my sister has all the bills she knows what is needed to make to current. “When was it paid” It was mailed yesterday. “How was the payment made” I do not know, us mail, check. “What is her phone number?” I am not going to tell you that. “do you know how many people tell me the checks in the mail” I am calling you. “You are wasting my time”, click. Never a thank you for the payment, or we appreciate you helping with this matter, nothing but a rude inconsiderate hang-up Even though this is not my account and I am not the customer, the account rep was very rude, and it is frustrating when you are trying to help them help your brother and you get treated in that manner, I personally will never use or consider Brookine Bank in the future, also I will tell this story to anyone that will listen. There is no reason for them to treat anyone like this ever.
