on jan/21/08 i had my 2004 mazda rx-8 towed to the local mazda dealer as the car would not start(we had bought the car at another dealer in late oct 07). I had to wait 48 hours for them to call and tell me that my car with 70,000 miles had a ruined moter I was advised that i had 0%comperresion on #1 roter and less than 50% on #2 roter and had to have a new moter at just under $5,000.00. After hearing this news i called several other mazda service managers in our local three state area when i explained to them how this car was new to us and that we were unfamiliar with the rotery engine . Every other service manager i spoke with advised me that the trouble was most likely the fact that we had started the car to move it a few feet and turned it right off.This will cause the rotery engine to flood sometimes to the point that the plugs must be removed to allow the gas to drain so the moter can start agian. I called up ron williams the mazda service manager at buzz leonard to advise him of what i had learned he advised me to relax as his tech has 30 years exp. and is factory trained and could not be wrong and that i did in fact need a new engine. At this point the car dealer i bought the car from had it removed from the buzz leonard service dept at my requestand taken to an independant mechanic. Guess what in his hands the car started right up and runs great he feels that the car sat long enough for the fuel to evaporate so the moter was no longer flooded.We have now had the car back for over a week and have driven over 400 miles with the moter running GREAT the engine fires right up and this car will run like a scalded cat I AM TALKING FAST. How could this be if my moter is ruined??? so people stay away from buzz leonards service dept as at this point i believe that the service tech would have made a lot more money replacing my moter that just the little bit of service that was truely needed ( i feel sorry for the person who’s red RX-8 was on the rack next to ours as they were getting a new moter put in) I just want this out here in the open so no one else will fall for this scam thank god i was to smart . We would also like to thank the kind folks at Cook Whitehead Ford the dealer we bought the used RX-8 from they really went above and beyond what the really had to do and also Eurasian Garages in panama city these two companys are worth doing business with at least my wife and i plan to . As for the buzz leonard folks well I will never do business with them and I urge anybody in the florida panhandle area to STAY AWAY or at least BE AWARE and Mr service manager Ron THE CAR RUNS GREAT PRETTY FUNNY FOR A CAR WITH NO COMPRESSION HUH Mike freeport, FloridaU.S.A.
