I moved into my Fruitland Apartment on Christmas Day (I had to because they were going out of town and had to give me the keys. I didn’t need to move until 1/1). Upon moving in, we noticed the apartment had not been cleaned professionally. It had been wiped down and not very good either. My mom came over and her and I took 2 days to clean the apartment and asked to be compensated for those two days by not having to pay rent. They refused so I just had to deal with it. Living there was wonderful because the property managers on site are wonderful. I had very few issues. Moving out, I had taken down the vertical blinds and outdated light fixtures with a friend but didn’t have help putting them back up and was charged $50. The walls are a strange shade of white and although I didn’t paint, I had some small nail holes that I patched and repainted white. I guess my white didn’t match their white so they had to repaint and charged me $130 which is outrageous. I bought all sorts of cleaning supplies again including floor cleaner, swiffer wet jet and tons of clorox and cleaned the apartment for almost 8 hours, making my entire move time 17 hours for a 1br apartment. They charged me $100 for a cleaning fee because it was “filthy” upon leaving. The apartment was not filthy at all. Everything was cleaned to the best of my ability, and much cleaner than it was when I moved in. I have a feeling that they tell everyone that, charge a fee, then don’t clean it and make the next person living there clean it if it wasn’t perfect. I got stuck cleaning moving in and I cleaned extremely well moving out. I’m refusing to pay for cleaning when I spent that time cleaning it. They also charged me an additional $143 of rent for days I wasn’t living there after my lease was up.
