I had hit a hard time in my life and owed some credit card debt. I had spoken with Capitol one about a payment arrangement which we did come to agreement. Shortly after I received a letter from an attorney and I explained the situation. Around a month later I received notification that Capitol one had a lien filed against me…so much for payment arrangements. Capitol one are liars.

– Date of Incident: 09 Oct 2017 – Description of incident: ******Force to make a late payment****** -Today was the due date for making a payment in my credit card. I tried to make a payment two nights ago but the site was down for maintenance. I tried to schedule the payment tonight and would not let me to schedule the day for today so I end up calling capital one. The representative that answer the phone stated that although it was still the due date I will still have to pay a late fee. I asked to speak with a supervisor in which I explained the situation to him. He said there was nothing he could do and that the times for due payment are in the app and the website. I proceeded to check my capital one app to see if I missed it and there was no indication of time due on the due date. I told him that I was looking right at the app and it didn”t show it. He stated I can get someone to walk you through I which I reply that I was looking right at it and that he should look at your own app (all besides the point). As a supervisor they should speak with facts not just false statement to make the company look good. All I wanted is just to avoid paying a late fee, as a representative of CAPITAL ONE and a SUPERVISOR he should not have gotten confrontational with me and find me a solution (I AM STILL TRYING TO MAKE A PAYMENT ON THE DUE DATE) This is not right for a customer to be treated this way and much less to be force to pay a late fee when is not late yet. – Desire Resolution: I want a refund if charged with a late fee. There is NOTHING on the monthly statement saying that a credit card is not acceptable–yet the passive-aggressive phone kid, Jay UZ (which he SAYS is his ‘designation’) has kept me on the phone with his BS and on hold in excess of half an hour. THEN he hung up. VERY frustrated. VERY angry. By law–if there is no specificity regarding payment options; I do NOT have to surrender my banking info to these yahoos. A few month ago I notice a charge of $64 on my credit card which was not mine. The alleged purchase was made at a shop which I had never set foot in in my life before. I disputed the charge and capital one send me a letter which had what appeared to be a photo-copy of the sales receipt on it… And a signature which did not look like mine. Capital one claimed, that I indeed made this purchase and they had the proof… Right on this piece of paper they send me… Dispute denied. I wen to the store (Krogers here in houston) and the manager (A lady) told me a few things I did not had realized. The apparently copy of the sales receipt on the letter from capital one was a fake. A fake done by capital one, because 1) the kroger’s logo was an old one. 2) the street address of the shop was mis-spelled 3) the tear-off line of the sales receipt looked very artificial. 4) the sales receipt is never scanned. This is a 100% electronic transaction. With other words, capital one generated an artificial sales receipt. After talking to the capital one investigator (Who did not admit to anything I said above), the charges on my credit card were finally dropped. I will never know what really happened. He said, that someone made a copy of my credit card… Maybe… I got a new card, just to be sure. My advice: # like hell if the truth is on your side. You have to spend a lot more sweat and tears than $65, but I will make a stink for a nickel. The credit card company will not make it easy for you to dispute a charge.

About a year ago (late 2007), Capital One offered an incredible 0.00% interest rate (with 3% transfer fee) until January 2010. This was unheard of. And Capital One is Capital One — a supposedly reputable company (based on their ads on TV, I guess). This past month in November, I paid off the entire balance ($20, 000) — 2 months before the deadline. Guess what. The December statement shows that there is $150 of finance charge! I phoned the 1-800 number, and the customer representatives are in Costa Rica and India, all speaking with an unusal accent, with really bad (satellite) connections. (There wasn”t even “Your call will be monitored for training purposes” recording.) I had to phone four times and repeated the same story. Guess what? One annoyed customer respresentative said that the promotional rate was good only through 11/09, the last month. When I told her that I have a document that shows the rate was good through 01/10, she said she would transfer me to an account specialist. The transfer to an account specialist never happened because the connection got disconnected. I tried again twice more with the same scenario of the transfer being disconnected (supposedly) because of bad connections! What a bad business practice! What contempt they have for common people!

BUT, that did not stop Capital One from sending me a APR INCREASE of 9% over my previous rate of 6.9%. After all the thousands of complaints i have read in the past 2 days regarding capital one auto finance people making payment arrangements paying them and capital one still repos their car im filling chapter 13 the rep guy couldn”t get mine think outside the box see pic well i have an issue with capital one 360 auto division. I have put my truck in a garage for now. I only have a balance of 5, 600.00 out of an original balance of 28, 410.00. So i have about 10400.00 equity in the h3. I can not get into my account anymore via web site see attached paperwork i only needed 10 days to give them 800.00 and they sent a repo guy to my house twice this week ( see attached pic he couldn”t get my truck ). They will never see that truck but i want to pay the remainder balance. That”s just wrong of them to take a vehicle that someone has paid for 5 years on and only has maybe 6 payments left. And needs 10 stinks days to make two payments at least to them. That is nothing but pure greed… I was unemployed for the past 2 years and struggled every month to make the payment to them but i did… I had nothing left i could do as of aug 2015 to make the payments and then i finally got hired on at ___________ oct 14, 2015 and they wont wait 10 days till i get paid

After having a Capital One Card for years, I paid it off completely in March, 2010. After just several small purchases, I went to use it again to purchase tries for my van. I called ahead and also checked the balance via the internet, there was still $1700 ++++ on the card. I presented the card to Big O and it was declined. After several attempts I finally called Capital one. The service rep was a little on the rude side and informed me that he could not see any reason for the transaction to be declined so he put his supervisor on the phone. The supervisor said it was because they had not posted my payment, which by the way they admitted was showing up on their screen, so I was not current according to her. I explained that the payment was there, it was taken out of my bank account two days earlier, and both the original person and this supervisor said it was there, the payment was made on time by the way, BUT, that it had not been posted by there staff so it wasn”t really made yet. Yeah sure. They refused to let me put the tires on the card. Really embarrassing standing in Big O. I put the tires on my debit card now jeopardizing by house payment if it goes in a day early it will beat my paycheck, if posted the right day, they will both hit the bank so it will be OK. Big O was understanding and said I wasn”t the first person to have problems with Capital One at there store. What do you tell Big O take the tires off, and I get a free alignment, no way was I going through that.

After months of my relative unable to read or pay bills and placed in a nursing home due to a life threatening illness. I contacted these ### in March 2011 with a letter notifying them of the circumstances for non-payment. No response from them at all!!! My relative out of the hospital, rehab and then a nursing home contacts their customer service only a few weeks later after recieving a threatening letterJuly 2011 from CAPITAL ONE. In the discussion reinterrated the conditions for non-payment and inquired as to a possible forgiveness for the added on late charges and fees while she was dying with this illness. They “CLIFFORD” refused to work with her other than demanding payment and continued throwing at the relative “CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT”. Evedently they don”t give a RAT”s AZZ whether you live or die because they will screw you into your grave. I would not get involved withg these dung eating imbreads!!! Remember them when the economy levels out if it ever does because of these trashy people handing out credit cards like it was monopoly money. I find it uncanny how many trailer trash have been forgiven by these same people who”s intent was to not pay them back yet someone with a ligetimate illness is screwed over by them. After owning a credit card with Capital One for nearly 3 years and paying down a credit line in excess of 5, 000 (ON TIME) within a years time, my balance was finally paid in full! Or so I thought… I was always in the habit of paying my bills online, Capital One was no exception. The month following my final payment, I received a statement that showed I owed a balance of 3.85 with a late fee! I was puzzled and contacted their customer service department – located in INDIA… While I have no problem with outsourcing SOME services, why would customer service be outsourced to a call center that only knows how to repeat a script and not deal with real problems??? After explaining my situation several times to the gentlemen, he explained that the 3.85 was the last finance charge owed on the account, and that he would remove the late fee if I paid the 3.85 balance that day – reluctantly, I did… Two months later, I received another statement – showing I had owed .50 cents (for who knows what) with a late fees to boot! The total on my bill was now 49.00… So, I called customer incompetence center.. Without even listening to my problem, I was rerouted to “collections” where a gentlemen proceeded to read me the script about how much I owed, how much was due, and how would I like to pay. Calmly, I explained that I would not like to pay because the charges were ### and that the account had been paid in full 3-4 months prior and asked him to check his records. Again, recited a script, asking me how I would like to pay and telling me my options when I rudely interrupted and asked to speak to a manager. Rerouted, holding, finally someone – nope, just another person who decided to tell me the same information over and over about how much I owed, etc. After interrupting again, and explaining that I would not continue to repeat the problem, I asked to speak to a competent supervisor. Rather than doing that, the gentlemen told me that he would take care of the account, saw the problem and would zero the balance with no negative reflection on my credit – of course. (rolls eyes) Three days passed, I logged on to my Capital One account online and saw that the balance was now 59.00. Beyond the capability of patience, I again called the screw-you-over line for customer service… After going through two people who I could not understand and who in turn, did not understand my problem, I was put on with a “supervisor”. This individual explained to me that my account was zeroed out, but was still in the process of being closed. I was shocked, “Closed!?” I was told that because my account was so overdue and all of the charges were late fees and finance charges, that in order for them to zero the account – it had to be closed. Part of me was overwhelmingly angry. After using their credit card, maxing out the credit limit and paying it completely down to zero, this is how I am treated? (believe me I will be checking my credit reports to see if this was a charge-off – although I was explicitly told that it would not affect my credit negatively). But, honestly I am relieved and will never use Capital One again… Despite the 10 million solicitations they send out in the mail. With so many people not able to pay their credit card bills right now due to the current economic state in the US, it is amazing that I was treated with such disdain. I truly hope that these type of management practices catch up with a company such as this. Next commercial I would like to see is the Board of Directors being attacked by whats in their wallet…or not in their wallet – and having to contact their own customer service department for help – Ha Ha Ha

After paying off my balance in full prior to the due date and then paying additionally, aslo prior to tthe due date, when i noticed recent charges that were not included on that month’s bill, i received my next bill with an interest charge of $101.00. I called Capital One and spoke to foreign rep whom i could not fully understand and was then given to an English speaking rep who claimed it was Capital One’s policy to charge interest until the bill has been paid in full for 2 consecutive months. I then spoke to another foreign rep who tried to explain that it was interest compounded daily but he could not tell me how or why the number was $101.00 or what number it was based off of. I then spoke to an account rep and got no further satifaction or reasonable explanation of how i own interest when i have no balance. I have paid the $101.00 and will be closing the account after being a good standing customer for many years and paying a 17.9% interest rate. Capital One’s practices seem unethical to the consumer.

After taking 5-6 months of phone calls and paperwork to finally obtain my “precious” Capital One HBC Master Card (reason it takes so long is due to previous identity theft and fraud in my past, it’s like Fort Knox applying for any credit through the Credit Bureau), and using my card regularly for almost a full year I pay off my statements every month fully. I go to make a purchase one day at an HBC store and my card is declined due to the fact that they’ve cancelled it! I’ve received no notification as to why or when this was done. The store manager called up Capital One right on the spot insisting that this was not acceptable and the financial institution simply said it was an error on their part and that there was nothing that they could do about it, once a card is cancelled they cannot reinstate it I would just have to reapply again. Like heck I’m going to go through that again! The only reason I got one in the first place was to earn the extra reward points and get an extra discount the day I purchased something and signed up (which I couldn’t get because I had to go the long route of getting a card due to the credit bureau situation, the store couldn’t issue me a temporary card like they usually do). If this is what they do to their loyal customers and my past history of payments isn’t proof enough that they can reissue my card because of a mistake of theirs, then I don’t want anything to do with them! Although they couldn’t send me a notification of cancellation, they did send me my statement and expect payment on time.

Always always giving misleading information. Every customer representative apologizes for the one before because of giving incorrect information. I want my credit card increased and I want my loyalty as a customer to be appreciated. I am tired of capital one treating me like crap because they know I need them to rebuild my credit and I think they use that to their full advantage. Amazing how you have to opt out of not going over the limit. Ironic how I got capital one to build my credit and it has hurt is worse than ever! I lost my job and my limit was $1500. I went over by $2 and now I owe $3800+. They would only discuss a payment plan of $400 a month. If I couldn’t pay $100 how am I suppose to pay $400. I felt like it was a pryamid scheme with them telling me to go ask family and friends. They said they would work with me and they didn’t!!! I closed my card and am still getting fees. NEVER AGAIN! As of May 1, 2011 I had a zero balance with Capital One, this was my small business credit card so it was rarely used. By mid-May I needed to do some upgrades and small investments so I made several purchases and apparently went $100 over my limit. By the next week (bear in mind, this was a week after the purchases were made, no payment was due and I wasn”t even close to receiving the first statement in months) I was receiving non-stop phone calls about Capital One collecting on a debt while I was at work. How is this a debt? Have I not yet paid or do you somehow foresee that I will not pay in the future? Why don”t you simply send me the statement in a month (it”s just normal practices) and then see what happens? Try it, it may work. This is the most unethical practice I have ever encountered. Of all the thousands of “collectors” that have called me continuously, I have spoken to four of them and asked them to “make it make sense” and no one could with the exception of one who stated that she had no idea why Capital One was harassing me and she would stop the phone calls. The phone calls did stop for about two weeks, which I was truly grateful. Capital One maintains that they are calling to collect the over the limit fee, but was it not Capital One that allowed this payment to go through in the first place WITH the addition of an over the limit fee? So what is the point of the harassing phone calls? I have since tried to cancel my card with them, to no avail. The next time I call I have decided that if they want to take the time to harass me, I will do the same! I will just as mean and ugly as they have been. Although I don”t condone such immaturity, there is such great satisfaction for me! Thanks for listening.

As with many other people (as can be seen on this website and others), I too received a mailing, very generic looking that only through luck I happened to open and read. The mailing is a Notice of Changes in Terms and advises that your interest rate is being changed – in my case from a fixed rate of 12% to a variable rate of 22.9%!! When I called Capital One, I spoke to a very nice young man by the name of JD who stated he does not know how Capital One chose the accounts to make changes to but that I should not view the change as being penalized! I thanked JD and then promptly closed my account. Everyone recognizes the economy is hurting but punishing those of us that have maintained a positive payment history for several years is not the way to improve conditions. One would think this company would strive to maintain relations during our economic crunch – especially when there are businesses by the dozen vying for our patronage! I will no longer give my business voluntarily to Capital One! An increase such as the one they are forcing on their loyal and good customers is not a fair business practice and if ALL customers would respond the same we might be able to force change!

Back in mid December, I received a credit line increase on my Capitol One credit card, shortly thereafter I received a letter from Cap One with checks to use to make it easy to use the increase. I did and wrote a check in late december for $1000 to a company. About Jan 24th, I received a letter from Cap One that they had made an error and the credit line increase in December was somehow doubled in error and that they had reduced the credit line – 2 days later I received a notice from the company I had written the check to that it had bounced! I can understand making an error but they should honor committments. I contacted Cap On their “Secure” email many times and all I received was “sorry and tough” replys. I am 60 years Old and have never written a bad check until Cap One came along. I have taken care of the bad check and have also filed complaints with the Attorney General.. All I can say is If you get a increase from Cap One, Never use the checks – they will turn you into a criminal bad check writer!

Back in Sept 2010 I was involved in a terrible accident. I was hospitalized for 2 months. Because of my hospitalization I was two weeks late on my credit card payment. Back in September, 2007, a charge appeared on my Capital One credit card statement dated 9/19/07 which I felt it necessary to dispute. I immediately sent off my dispute letter dated 9/29/07 (yes, it takes ten days to receive my statements in the mail). They then wrote requesting further information, which I provided to them in a letter dated 11/1/07. I then received yet another letter and a form to fill out dated 12/17/07 (which I received on 12/24/07), and in the letter, they indicated that the form, sales or purchase agreement, etc., had to be returned by 12/24/07!!! I stayed home from my family”s Christmas Eve festivities in order to gather my information together to get to them on 12/26/07, as obviously they would be closed on Christmas Day. Some time passed and I never heard from them so I called their customer service department to inquire as to the status of the disputed charge. They informed me that they never received the information I sent them on 12/26/07. I immediately sent in the information once again on 1/30/08. I again contacted them regarding the status and they indicated that nothing further had been done as there were answers to some questions marked N/A. I proceeded to explain that they did not apply to my situation to which they responded that there needs to be an answer in order to present it to the merchant. I responded that if thats the case, they need to so indicate on their form. So, they sent me new forms to fill out, which I did on 3/12/08, and I answered every question whether it applied to my disputed charge or not. On April 10, I received yet another letter from Capital One stating the following: Thanks for contacting us about a disputed charge on your Capital One account. Unfortunately, at this time, we consider your cased closed. Heres what happened: Due to current operating regulations, we have a limited amount of time to reverse a charge back to a merchants bank. Unfortunately, that time frame has expired. In the future to preserve your dispute rights, please notify our office in writing within 60 days of the statement closing date reflecting the disputed charge. Youll need to contact the merchant and work directly with them on this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. I then telephoned their customer service department immediately upon receipt of this letter and got nothing but an argument despite the fact that I pointed out to him in no uncertain terms that I complied completely with all of their requests and there was absolutely nothing more that I could have done on my part and that the fault lies with them that the time expired. I told the man I spoke to that if this is the way they choose to handle customer disputes, then they certainly deserve to be exposed to the fullest extent and that I would be posting my experience on the Internet.

Between 2PM: and 5:PM MST July 17 2019 I was disputing 2 charges on my Capital One card and had spoke to 4 people. 2 were out sourced whom I asked to speak to someone in the USA they were both very nice and complied. When I had started my account with Capital One I had specified to always talked to a USA CS person it failed.The first Capital One person Tina was very helpful but we had been disconnected. I waited 10 mins for her to call me back. After that I called back got the 2nd outsourced person who gladly put me in touched with a USA CS rep after a long wait I got a CS person who ID herself as Demetrius NGO301 a Capital One supervisor . I told her my issues and during our conversation she became rude to me and she talked over me and said the reason she was talking over me was due to a delay in the phone service and I said baloney I did not believe that. I have notified both my bank and credit card company of these fraudulent charges, they are in disputing process. I expect your company to credit this charge back to both my personal checking account with Middle Tennessee Federal Credit Union, Cookeville, Tennessee and Orchard Bank, the credit card company. I also see where there have been complaints made toward this company, Hudforeclosure recently. Called customer service on 5/29/18 to ask about interest charges in which I did not understand, the first person I spoke with I had a hard time understanding her, I asked to be transferred to someone else which I was. The next lady was very nice and helpful until I was disconnected. I called back and was speaking to a male and explaining the situation when he said well I don”t really know because I”m not that good with numbers. That concerned me so I asked to speak to someone higher up. I was transferred to a very rude and unprofessional person named Steve (6652). I was appalled at the way I was treated by Steve ( at this point, Steve was the 4th person that I spoke with and I was already very frustrated).I asked to talk to someone higher than Steve and he said that is not possible I”m the highest you can go. I have been a member of Capital One for approximately for 13 years with good standing with your company. At this point I will be keeping my Capital One account (due to points accumulated) opened but will not be using it due to the incompetent service I received. I will be receiving my new cards from Chase freedom within a week and plan on using them in place of the Capital One card. It”s to bad that this situation happened because I was happy and even recommended Capital One to several friends and family members, But the way I was treated by the highest person in customer service as Steve, I can not even fathom dealing with this company. Capital one – www.capitalone.com I’ve had credit since 1992. I have perfect credit, except for capital one saying my bill was a day late. I find it very hard to believe, since I make my payments weeks in advance. But that’s another story.. I only signed up with them in the first place, because they told me that I would have a 9.9% interest rate for the life of my card. Two years after they said my bill was late, they jacked my rate up to 18.9%, without telling me, and without a reason. It took me months to get them to change it back, and only after I put in a request for them to lower it back down, to where it was supposed to be in the first place. I’ve waited and waited, but they haven’t adjusted my balance. Beware of capital one. They will rip you off!

Capital One and their rates are outrageoulsy high. Yes I was late on my payments, but the past due was more than half of my mortgage and I was still under my credit limit!!! They would not work with me in any way for a reasonable payment plan that I could afford. They also called 2-3 times after I made payment arrangements. If they are calling your job send a letter in writing (Cease & Desist) for them to contact you by mail only!that last thing anyone wants is collection calls at work which puts your business out there.

Capital One Auto Finance stated 12/07/2007 via UPS they will refuse any arbitration of any kind this is a direct violation of the FAA act of 1921 I filed arbitration claims against them 4 times 3 times with the National Arbitration Forum file# MX0711002018527 The reasons are the following 1). I have been mailing my Car Payments Certified Return Receipt and they are claiming this is in Debt Collections I have made over 2 years of Car Payments 205.35 at 19.99 percent even though my credit score the past three years is over 650 meaning the rate should have been 10.178 percent 2). I bought the car through Tacoma Auto center and they had this listed under WFS and or Onyx I was not aware that this was a subdivision of Capital One Auto finance if I knew this I would have walked out. 3). The Contract is Notarized and Apostilled. 4). The affidavit is Notarized and Apostilled arbitration. Capital One claims there is no arbitration clause so when I have any more Financial deals please exclude any offers from Capital One divisions subdivisions. If I buy a New or Used Car Please exclude Capital One they are unfair in their dealings.

Capital One auto has ruined my credit!!! I have tried tooth and nail to protect my credit to the best of my ability with all my accounts. As of now I have not been late with anything for over 7 years, so I have relatively good credit. I refinanced my loan with Capital One Auto in early 2008; I went a few days past my due date. I called Capital One and they wanted to charge me a convenience fee of $15 for paying over the phone. I opted out and decided to go online because the represented told it was free of charge. I went through this entire process to get registered into the online system and sent my payment online. It comes to my attention the next month invoice shows I owe 2 months. I immediately called Capital One to resolve this misunderstanding. Apparently the information I put into the system was incorrect therefore the payment never went through and now I am late 30 Days. I spoke with supervisor and several other representatives they all pretty much gave me the same spiel that it was not a bank error. This was 2 years ago; I have tried diligently to dispute this item with the bureaus but to no avail. Capital One insist the item was correct and they I am 30 days late. About 2 years later they come up with another late!!! Ok I have to admit for the last year I have fallen behind on my payments but I have never exceeded more than 30days, because at this point my credit would not be affected. I applied for forbearance for my July’s payment, which I sent in mid July. They have confirmation of receiving it their form plus the $35 Dollar processing fee, but the application is apparently is still pending. I got a texted on August 2, 2010 please call Capital One, so I immediately did. The representative said that my request was still pending and I am now late 32 Days!!! I was irate to say the least and she said I will have my manager call you tomorrow. I called back and got the run around… Finally, a supervisor called me back and apparently the forbearance is curtsey and the fact remains that I am effectively 32 Days late… Well I still process your forbearance but I can not remove the 30 Day late on your credit because it is not a bank failure!!! I think this company is full of! $%&^ and they are ###. I feel they purposely ruined my credit so that I remain their client. Preventing me from seeking credit elsewhere!!!

Capital One bought HSBC. I had an account with them so I received several letters in regard to this. One of them advised that I would be able to link the HSBC account to the Capital One account. When the time came to do this, they wouldn”t allow it because I had closed the HSBC account. I can no longer make payments or do anything online in regard to the HSBC account even though it”s now with Capital One. I closed my HSBC account myself. This is now their reason for not allowing me to link it. I actually had to call Capital One to make a payment. The employee then took it upon herself to access my Capital One account without my permission. She was reading information from my account to me. I told her that what she had done was wrong because I didn”t give permission to access that account. I then spoke to a supervisor who pretty much ignored my complaint about what the employee had done. All he cared about was getting a payment. I called directly to their corporate headquarters this morning and basically got the same information. They didn”t care that the employee had breached my account without my permission. They only want their money.

Capital One claims to not apply any fees to currency conversion when using their credit card for international charges. My experience with Capital One has been that they do not convert the currency using the daily bank rates and that Capital One uses conversions that are at higher rates than the daily bank rate and that is how they can claim they do not charge a currency conversion fee. I have taken international travel in 2008 to a number of countries and used the Capital One credit card only to find out that after I receive my Capital One statement, the currency conversion is significantly higher than that used by several other banks. When trying to resolve my issue/concern with Capital One, they first claimed they used the daily exchange rates from Wall Street Journal. When I have provided the daily currency conversion exchange rates provided by the Wall Street Journal, they then claim to use another source. When requesting their source, they claim their conversion rate is determined from multiple sources and refuse to provide their “multiple sources.” I believe I have lost hundreds of dollars from Capital One as a result of my international charges that actually reflect currency conversion rates that are much higher than the rate provided at other banks. If you plan to use a credit card for international charges, I recommend that you contact Capital One to determine how they determine their source(s) for currency conversion and make sure they document the conversion for you, so that when you receive your credit card statement, it will reflect a verifiable conversion rate. Unfortunately, I suspect Capital One will not be willing to provide you the information to your satisfaction. Good luck.

Capital One didn’t send notice of rate increase. When I received statement with increase notice, they wouldn’t let me opt out – too late. When I called this February to find out why the disclosure notice wasn’t on the statement, they said it would be on the next one. They also told me that if I pay just the minimum payment, the payoff time was “never”. Then miraculously my credit card was cancelled. I called to find out why – they said I called and cancelled it. I did not, but they refused to admit it or fix it.

Capital One has just taken over Chevy Chase Bank in the WDC area offically this Monday Sep 13, 2010. Being a former CCB customer, I have been experiencing nothing but problems this week. They include, missing acounts in my online profile, failure to close a matured CD, large balance requirements and service charges to two of my accounts without warning, and accounts frozen for no apparent reason. In addition I am also not able to use my ATM card which was supposed to be valid till I get the new Capital One card. Since Tuesday, I have been on the phone with various bank personnel as well as visiting the local branch all without success in resolving the issues. I’ve been told by the bank staff that I am not alone, that many CCB customers have been affected by similar problems. I have never seen a takeover that is this problematic and the worst is I don’t know if there will be an end to it or if it’s just the beginning of many more problems to come.

Capital one is screwing people big time, good customers with very good credit are being hit with very high interest rates arbitrarely and when you call them they don’t want to budge their only advice is you either keep the high interest rates, continue paying and shut up or, they will close your account (screw your Fico’s) and lower the rate. So either way they screw you. New customers BE AWARE! THEY WILL LURE YOU WITH A NICE LOW INTEREST RATE only to raise it after a year or two and there is nothing you can do. They did exactly that to me and it will take me 32 years to pay them $15, 000 with a monthly payment of $400!!. The government should take a look at this abuses and do something about it instead of fighting over health reform or anything else that is good for the people.

Capital One Mastercard – Capital One Pre-paid MasterCard is a BIG scam. The whole premise it that they have incorporated new “security measures” to “protect me” from fraud. All their “security measures” are is a way to use customers’ hard earned money interest free for 30-60 days while customers wait and wait and wait for the card to arrive. By running this delay tactic scam they can have millions in a floating reserve at all time that they are collectively earning big bucks on. I got the card to buy my plane ticket home for Christmas, but with this effing rip off scam by Capital One, my card won’t even arrive till AFTER Christmas. So in the past month I am suffering with the inconvenience of having no card, meaning I missed out on all the reasonably proceed airline tickets for Christmas, so that will cost me a few hundred more and Capital One has made money off the fact. So they probably made $7 so far and cost me hundreds and a lot of frustrations. Corporate Effing Crooks! Avoid these crooks like the plague. Here’s the timeline of my ongoing “quick and easy approval”: I “applied” for the card 2 months ago. I received an “approval” 3 weeks later. (Like you need an approval since it’s pre-paid). I was told my card would arrive within 10 business days of receiving a money order for what ever amount I’d like to prepay on the card. I sent in a money order for $500. 2 weeks later I call in since its been 10 days. So friggin’ ### gives me the “Congratulations you’ve been approved” schpeal for idiots again. I sent them $500 and they are kind enough to say I can actually spend it. What a bunch of condescending dicks! The duffus tells me the card will be arriving any day. 1 week later a letter arrives, but instead of a credit card so I can buy my plane ticket, it get a crap load of paper with convoluted instructions about going to the post office to present ID and have the post office mail copies of it cak to Capital One by registered mail. Then Capital One Mastercard is supposed to review it and get around to sending out my actual card eventually. OK. B-effing-S on this. If they would just mail the card to the postal outlet in the first place and have me flash ID there, I could be picking up the card instead of playing stall tactics with my pre-paid money.

Capital One needs help training their customer service representatives! My husband and I are consolidating credit card accounts. We each elected to close one personal credit card each. I chose my Capital One card because it has the highest interest rate although it is my most seasoned account; mainly because they refused to lower the rate to beat the other two cards I currently hold. Upon paying off the entire balance and calling to request the account be closed, I was given quite the sales pitch about this being a bad idea. The kid basically gave me a lecture on banking. I interrupted him, nicely, to let him know the decision had already been made and I already understood the principles of closing seasoned accounts and still wanted to close this account. He then rattled off the policies about closing accounts and hung up on me. After being a card holder for 8 years and always paying each bill on time, I still got the boot in the butt on the way out the door. What’s in my wallet? A credit card from the nice folks at my local Credit Union. Screw Capital One.

capital one offered me overdraft protetion, but failed to inform me after a few months that it would run out. They also were charging me which was only suppose to be a one time fee. After bringing these charges to their attention they apologized and only waived one of two charges. Now on my feburary statement my APR as went from 13.15% to 22.90% and my mimimum payment as gone from $15.00 to $17.00. I never was late and I would have not went over my limit if I had known that I would not be protected.

Capital One processes transactions in a way to collect more NSF fees. Yesterday afternoon I checked my balance at 4 PM and had $205 balance. I made two transactions around 5:30 PM–one for appr. $27 and one for appr. $56. I checked my balance afterwards and the new balance reflected the latest transactions, around $122.00. At or around midnight that night a direct deposit of over $1000 went in. The next morning I checked my account and it showed NSF fees for the two transactions from the day before (even though my account was actually positive due to the direct deposit), and showed two checks posting beforehand in the amounts of $90.00 and $124.00 (which had not been there the evening before). I don”t understand how they are able to go back and change the order of the transactions after the banks have closed. When I cash a check it post to my account immediately and the new balance is reflected online. However, these two checks were processed later, but adjusted so that my account was overdrawn before the smaller transactions, resulting in 3 NSF charges of $35 each when, if posted in their accurate order, I would have only been assessed one NSF charge of $35.00. Isn”t this illegal?? I called customer service and she tried telling me that the checks are some times processed later depending on the time the check is received. Wouldn”t this verify that they fraudulently arranged the order of transactions to collect more NSF fees?

Capital one protects counterfeiters, not their cardholders. What”s in your wallet ? I had game of thrones dvds seasons 1&2. I ordered seasons 1-6 from ebay as I couldn”t order just 3-6. The dvds would not play. They got to the warning screen and the disclaimer and froze up. Or they were glitchy – jumped around and the audio would cut out. They also noted that I had not returned the dvds – what – so the crook can sell them, again ? I found the entire dismissal of complaint dishonest and it has become clear to me that capital one protects counterfeit transactions at the cost of their customers.In my case, they say I am a liar because I can”t “prove” the dvds are fakes.

Capital One used to be very nice to deal with. Short wait times, helpful agents and a willingness to waive membership fees. For the past year they are just plain mean. The wait times for customer service are at least a half an hour and once you get a hold of someone they act like you are some kind of misguided beggar asking for a handout. Yesterday one of my cards was declined which caused me a great deal of embarrassment and stress. When I finally got to an agent he told me it never happened.

Be VERY careful what you purchase with Capital One cards. So if someone finds your card number, they can make charges to your card and Capital One will expect you to pay for them.
