Around christmas I found a sale price on a deck I wanted to get for my wifes SUV for 149.00 went to purchase it and after he looked in the truck to see what he needed for the install,the guy come back with a 1143.00 total cost! I asked how it went from 149 to 1100ish and he says he “HAD to use fancy spealer connectors for bose speakers,$60 needed to add a $90 onstar connector, I explained “onstar did not work” he said didnt matter it HAD to be added! Anyways the list went on I told him I used to compete in stereo compatitions in the 90’s,and we just butt connected all that s***,he said “they WOULD not do that!! Sorry but its my car,I didnt need all the extra connectors and crap woulda worked the same,it shoulda been about 300 dollars MAX to buy & install. But I figure most people use there credit card to buy so cartoys just adds everything + 10% and tells all the average people who know nothing about how installs work that they NEED this & that and people go” OH, OK” SO BUYER BEWARE!!” They are WAY OVERCHARGING whatever they sell that involves an installation! .

10-16-18 complaint of poor service In December 2017, my Wife purchased a Kenwood Stereo for my S-10. I was unable to get the vehicle into Salem, Oregon Store. On October 16, 2018 I was able to get the vehicle into the store. Prior to traveling from my home to the store I called the store to see if they had time to install the stereo. I received a very rude sales person saying that the stereo was purchased as a self install. I told the sales person that was not right as my wife purchased it with the understanding it was to be installed. He began to instruct me as to what I needed to purchase and pay for the installation. I drove to the store and again was told I needed to buy installation kit and pay for installation. I had put the copy of the receipt that my wife had received in the box with the stereo. A store manager came out and said he needed to “credit” my account to show I had paid for the installation. He said they took the money because I had not come in for the install. I was unaware of this action. After he “credited” my account a installer came out and went over my car for any electrical issues. He then advised it would take a couple of hours. I walked to a place to wait. Before I left he asked for my phone number for the use of any issues that came about. Within a couple of hours the tech. called and advised my vehicle was ready, however a microphone was missing but the vehicle was ready for me to pick up. Upon arrival at the store, I was again told that the microphone was missing and that the stereo is a hands free stereo for use with my cell phone. That is why my Wife bought the radio because of the “hands free” feature. (this is also required in Oregon to use your cell phone) I was asked to sign a form indicating, I was satisfied with the product and installation. I told the sales person that I had not even observed the finish product so I would not sign the form. The Salesperson walked to my vehicle with me. I turned on the radio and it worked. When I asked about the microphone the Salesperson informed me that it was required to use the hands free cell phone feature. He as the microphone was sold with the stereo however it appeared it was not in the box. We went back inside and I was again told the microphone was sold with the stereo. (the store manager indicated that I had removed the microphone) I knew nothing about a microphone being required. The store manager said the microphone would cost me $20.00. He then came back and said it would cost another $30.00 for installation. A total of $50.00. I stated, I could not believe that this missing part was not brought to my attention at the time of installation. I was going to purchase the missing microphone, however when I was told it cost another $30.00 to install it I objected the extra cost as the Tech. should have called me when he noticed the part was missing. After the obvious attempt to charge more of the missing part, I also brought to the Store Manager the attempt to get me to pay for installation again because the computer showed that it was purchased as a “self install”. I brought to the Managers attention that if I had installed it my self the store would have kept the money and not notified me of the money being taking from my prepaid stereo and install. His only comment was, “Well you came back”. This type of actions on the part of your store is unacceptable. I feel that you should not only install the microphone that was missing but also provide the microphone. This would make this customer happy and no other complaints would be levied at this time. Car Toys – www.cartoys.com I was sexually harassed by a co-worker and was later that week yelled at and threatened to not contact the Human Resources department again for an issue without following the chain of command. Well, as I was told when I was highered if not comfortable with this, go higher. So I did as this individual C***s C*op** is still employed there at Car Toys and I am not. He is there cause he is the highest seller and they could not afford to lose him. D***e*l N*l**y than moved me to another store thinking I would quit and soon followed by me taking 2 weeks vacation that really pissed him off and when I returned from vacation not a week later I was fired. And let me tell you after a cartoon investigation of less than 10 hours it was recommended by Loss Prevention that I be fired. After I posted a huge blog on myspace I was terminated. Why there is no good reason and this is why I am receiving Unemployment, because I was wrongfully terminated. Since than I have run into several unsatisfied customers from Car Toys and I tell my story and let the customers know employees are smoking weed and playing basketball and football on work premises and his too affects their install. And theft is brought up and I let them know yes it is a huge issue and happens and they are creative about it but I was fired for supposedly selling an item I still have in my possession. I am a whistle blower and this is why I am gone and the fact that I did not put up with someone sexually harassing me and management approves of it apparently at Car Toys. And may I add they brought an employee back for my position that they laid off right before me. And mind you she padded inventory, I shorted so much out when I took over cause she claimed items were in the store that were not there. You tell me. An awful place to shop and get service.

Car Toys is a dishonest, unprofessional, and sloppy operation. I brought in my BMW to have an iPod connection installed and they assured me they had the right tools to do the job. When I got my car back there were 2 large chips in my wood veneer console, where the installer had simply pried off the piece with a screwdriver. To make it worse, they denied they did it, falsified the paperwork I had completed when I dropped the car off, and tried to make it look like the damage was there before I brought in the car. Avoid this company at all costs, because it will cost you in more ways than one. I’ve never seen a company with worse overall customer service. They should be ashamed.

Car Toys salesmen are nothing but “Used Car Salesman” in training. They lie, they hide and they take advantage of their customers. I purchased a $700+ stereo system from them. They had me “make an appointment” to have it installed the next day, only when I showed (on time) for my appointment, their bays were full! I was told it would be 2-3 hours to do a simple install. I saw right away they were putting me off to finish the cars they took in as walk ins! I expressed my anger and told them I would be back in 2 hrs and this better be done. And it was. Fast forward 1.5 mos and the unit is now malfunctioning. I returned yesterday and they told me to make another appointment so they can “diagnose” the problem and possibly fix it. If they can’t fix it they will request a replacement from Pioneer. I’m sorry, why is this my problem? Why should I wait for a replacement? Why can’t they take one out of THEIR STOCK and wait for their replacement! They, after all, sell and represent this product, they should not inconvenience the customer for the fault of the product! So I again expressed my anger & frustration but they were insistent this was their protocol; to fix or wait for a replacement. (and how am I going to know I’m getting a “new” replacement and not a “refurbished” replacement?? Just another company that insists on immediate payment but drags *** to fix a product they sell AND REPRESENT!

Car Toys Totem Lake Kirkland Washington is horrible! We”ve had nothing but problems with cell phone contracts and phones. DON”T EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!! My husband purchased a T-Mobile G-1 for me as a Christmas present and also purchased the additional 2 year replacement warranty for $199.99- my husband was told that if anything happens to the phone I could just bring it in and it would be replaced. My phone just died for no reason. I took it in and they could not find any damage and their comment was “I guess you”re lucky that way…” The phone is less than 5 months old. The assistant manager JT said I will need to send in my phone to the manufacturer. I showed him our paperwork that showed the proof of additional insurance (which by the way is exorbinant) and he said their insurance doesn”t cover the phone so I need to send it in to the manufacturer. I am in sales and rely on my phone for business and cannot do business without the phone. I need a replacement phone and right now I am losing business and they will not replace the phone. We will never do business with them again and I am getting the word out. Their promises and their business is a total SCAM!!!

dont get the insurance…thats all i got to say..i would even stay away from cartoys..theyre not looking out for their customer theyre just trying to make a sale..insurance for cell phone took me a month to get replacement..had to send mine in first..they sent me a faulty battery in the new phone and didnt send out a replacement..i bought a new battery myself and luckly the phone didnt ruin the new 80 dollar battery..now im waiting for a call back because i now have a water damaged phone to return and my info in the computer is messed up so im waiting ..i give them a 1 out of 5 rating..a 1 star for replacing my tilt with a fuze that had a faulty battery..

Good luck getting ANY level of customer satisfaction from Car Toys Extended Warranty! They are IMPOSSIBLE to deal with and “customer service” does not exist whatsoever! They actually made me regret leaving the repair service of Qwest!!! Now THAT’S bad! I happily purchased 4 cell phones from Car Toys last February, but have now had 3 opportunities to utilize their insurance and have YET to be satisfied. Most recently it took me over TWO weeks to get a phone that would be delivered in “2-3 days.” Next time I’ll be sure and purchase the extended MANUFACTURER’S warranty and NOT the CAR TOYS warranty!

Hello, and Merry Christmas. I have done business with the Ft. Collins Car Toys. The system I have recieved is great, however, the technician that worked on my car has done something to my wires to, resulting in a contant beeping as if the door is open (but it”s not), and my dome light keeps flickering. Ive taken it in 4 times and the same issue arises. Keep note that I am on a “lease” with the system, and paying almost two grand total for a new stereo, speakers, and subs. The noise was not happening before the new system was put in, but the technician who installed it and the manager are both saying there is nothing they can do about it, even though this issue started AFTER the fact. I bought a car alarm from Car Toys during their “no sales tax” sale. First of all the alarm I purchased was listed in the store as $449.99 installed. Wrong! I was charged $469.85. Apparently they tack on an additional $22.38 and call it a parts charge. I had a standard installation and had no extras added to the alarm. I was told this is to cover zip ties, connections, and tape. You can buy a lifetime supply of these for 22.38 and if this is a standard install why don”t they advertise the alarm at $469.85 installed!! Here”s the kicker…I was also charged $44.64 in sales tax!! I have had 2 employees at Car Toys explain this to me andtell me this is correct and I still have no idea what they are talking about. They are trying to tell me that there is tax on the installation not the alarm??!! So I guess I paid 19% tax on installation?? On the receipt they list the alarm at $223.73 and Miscellaneous at 223.74…what the??? Bottom line…a car alarm advertised at $449.99 installed with no sales tax cost $514.49?????? Go ahead and shop here if you want to look like a complete idiot…I”m done!

I called today because I recommended your company to my mother. She just got a new to her 2005 Jeep Wrangler and wanted an alarm. I called because I used to be an installer and understand this company is in business to make money so when I called I said I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler no power door locks no power windows. No factory alarm. No after market alarm I just want a basic alarm the guy had a conversation going in the back the whole time I had to give him my info so he could call me back 4 times. He said he would return my call. After 2 hours I called back and they said their power was out so he couldn”t look it up. He said it was all working now so he put me on hold and came back with 670 dollars I just about lost my mind how expensive that was and when I asked what basic alarm he offered he said the installer only installs the nice Clifford alarms. I called different car toys and they said 230 installed. I called back and the store mannager said well we have to see the car first to quote you and I said what info have I not given you that you need my vehicle there to properly quote me and he said he wouldn”t change his price because the vehicle was not there. He then followed by hanging up on me and when I tried to call back he picked up the phone and hung up again. Now I”m upset so I called back and he says he didn”t hang up on me that the power is affecting the land line. I dint think so. Any way I said your not going to get my business and I used profanity when I hung up the phone. As any normal person would. He then called me back to say make sure you tell corporate that you used profanity so there it is I am telling you I did. Regardless this is the worst customer service I have ever encountered and I would like him to be talked to.

I had an auto alarm installed on my vehicle I had just purchased a month prior… When the technician attempted to show me a demo on how it functioned, he hit my windshield thus causing the alarm to go off. Then he hit it again, harder this time, and cracked my windshield. Here I am trying to prevent my windows from being broke and protect my investment, and their very own employee breaks my window. Instead of making it priority number one, he told me I had to come back the next day, and see if they could get one of their guys who strictly did windows to repair. And I had to *** with an unsafe vehicle. The technician never finished explaining the alarms function to me, and when I got to work, I opened my trunk, and realized, they never wired the trunk. This is where most of my valuables are placed, and they didn’t arm it? It was my first time there and my last… I intend on contacted the corporate office… the companies CEO, and the better business bureau…the service that was provided by them was downright lousy, and they exercised imcompetence, and negligence.. I had an Intoxilock device installed in my car and it keeps draining my battery (new). I”ve taken it back to Car Toys in Salem and got it going again but it continues to drain battery. I”ve contacted Intoxilock many times and after holding for up to 25 minutes each time, an agent comes on and says it”s an installation issue and to contact service center. When I contact Car Toys, they say we have to contact Intoxilock, and so we begin a frustrating and time consuming loop. I”ve lost 16 hours of work due to this problem. I contacted Anton at Salem Car Toys again today and he said to call Intoxilock and they weren”t touching it without a work order but I can t get a work order due to Intoxilock not taking responsibility and Car Toys and it”s associates were most friendly and helpful until after the device was installed. Anton is writing a letter that I will take to Courthouse tomorrow stating that their shop won”t work stand behind their work. So I currently have no transportation to and from work. I have tried to call all the customer service numbers for you and they are either disconnected or no customer service ice options. I”m filing with the BBB and Yelp and have contacted my attorney.

I had bought a used Honda, 2 dr coupe about a month ago. Rear speakers had previously been replaced and advised Car Toys of this. They checked this while I was there and agreed. I told them we wanted to replace our stock speakers with upgraded speakers in the doors. The passenger sid worked but the drivers side didn”t. I had previously tested the driver door speaker and it was okay. The wiring from the radio to the driver door speaker was wired correctly. Somewhere between the speaker and the radio there was a problem and I advised the installer of this ahead of time. I left. Installer then installed everything before testing/looking at anything. We were then called and advised he couldn”t do it as there was broken wiring in the door jam which was for the speakers. He said I needed to take it to a mechanic, have the broken wires fixed and then bring it back so he could install the speakers and then they would work correctly. I was charged 1 hr labor ($84.09) and got nothing from it. Had he checked the wiring first, as I had previously explained he would have seen the problem and I wouldn”t have been charged an hrs labor of $84.09.

I purchased a Blackberry Curve in August of 08 at that time I also paid $200 for the extended warranty through Car Toys. I went into the store when my phone no longer worked and was handed a phone # to call for “customer service”. I called the # and was told I needed to pay them an additional $55 for non refundable replacement costs and would have to give them an additional $285 returnable deposit until they received the bad phone. I was never informed of these extra fees by sales staff when I purchased phone and agreement or I would have never paid $200 insurance with $340 in additional fees. I was told phone was fully covered no matter the damage all inclusive replacement cost for new phone as many times as it needs replacing for the next two years. So I will have to pay them their nonrefundable $55 replacement fee to get a manufacturer reworked phone not a new phone as promised returned to me sometime in the next month after they look it over. DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR TOYS EXTENDED PLAN WARRANTY UNLESS YOU CAN AFFORD GETTING SCREWED FINANCIALLY AND WAITING A MONTH FOR REPLACEMENT

I purchased the Car Toys Extended Warranty for my Blackberry. There is a hole in the phone to connect a lanyard so you can hang the phone around your neck. The lanyard swung as I was closing my car door and the phone came apart. It will not snap back together, so I called their so called customer service. Instead of getting the phone replaced under warranty within 48 hours as promised by the salesman when I purchased it, I am getting the run around. They told me they would have to send the file to corporate and have them decide if I had been negligent. I don’t think so. Accidents happen. I will never purchase anything from Car Toys again.

I purchased what I would consider being a higher end Pioneer car stereo in late 2015; to be installed after Christmas (Jan. 16). It recently began acting up and when I took it into the store we purchased it from, I was told that it was probably a bad radio, but they”d check. Ultimately I was told that it would not accept a software update and that it indeed was a bad radio. Furthermore, there was nothing they could/would do about it. I”m having a really hard time understanding how an $800 stereo can become useless after two years and there”s nothing they can do about it. If I don”t receive some kind of effort to make this right, I will make it my mission to let everyone in my sphere of influence know not to do business with Car Toys, a company that does not stand behind its products or even try to make it right.

I read the complaints about Car Toys but didn”t believe them. I had purchased a car stereo system with no problem. Not so with cell phones. I spent 3 1/2 hours in the store getting my account established, etc. I was courteous and let the salesman move to other customers without complaint. Purchased 3 cell phones with new AT&T account. I tried to convince my wife to purchase the same phone I had. She insisted on a different one. We were assured that we could change it to the same as mine within 30 days … no problem. Until we tried it. At first they were going to give us no credit for her phone and charge new price for the update. When I complained they then said we were too late to change anyway because they have a 14 day return policy. I showed them the 30 day policy I had in writing, but was told they did not honor that. All this with another store employee telling the Manager I was correct in what I was telling him. Don”t go to Car Toys in Fort Worth, Texas. You are sure to be burned.

I took in a radio that I had purchased at car toys issaquah to be service at car toys totem lake in Kirkland. The radio continued a restart sequence, and would not work. The service department took a look at it and said that the radio had died, and I would need another one. I had the salesman walk me through new radios, and picked one that he recommended. He asked me if I would want additional items such as a new serious antenna, new phone microphone, back up camera, steering wheel controls, etc. I replied yes to all, and was quoted a price. The install was to take a few hours, and they would call me when completed. After the afternoon passed, I called to check the progress. Having never received a call of completion, I wanted to check the progress. I was told that the truck had been completed, but there was not a call stating so. I went to car toys to pick up my truck. I went it and got my keys, and proceeded to my truck. I found that my truck was a disaster, but the radio had been installed. However, not having time to address the condition of my truck, I left. I discovered a few days later that my steering wheel controls were not hooked up. I called car toys and informed them. I made a appointment to have them hooked up. Upon arriving at car toys, the person handling me said he could not find my invoice. I gave him my phone number, my wife, my name, her name, and repeated all again. He said he still could not find an invoice, only a service appointment. I described the situation as to the install, and said that I can speak for them losing the invoice. He spun the computer screen around, implying that since he could not find it, I had not purchased it there. Basically say that I was lying. Only when I went to my truck, retrieved the box, were they able to look up the invoice to see that they had filed it under a strangers name. Thus, they would service it. I reluctantly left my truck with them to be fixed. Approximately two hours later a received a call from car toys saying that they could not install the controls with my current module, and that I would need another one. He said it would run another $110 dollars for a new module and labor. I told him that I had already negotiated both, and was quoted a price, which i paid. He said that it was not on the invoice, and therefore I would be charged. I told him i had negotiated it with the sales person, and as far as to what he put on the invoice was not my problem. In fact, the salesman didn”t even put the right name on the invoice, so how could the invoice reflect correctly negotiated. He went on to say that they had attempted to call me to tell me of this on the original day, of which I replied that was incorrect. I had no missed call, no voicemail, and further more they had the wrong personal information on the invoice, and couldn”t have reach me anyhow because they didn”t have my number. I told him that I expect all of the equipment that was negotiated to be installed, and will not pay any additional money. I negotiated all Items, was quoted a price, and that is what I paid. He said he will not install it. I will never use car toys again. They will quote you a price, do lousy work, call you a lier, in return lie to you, and will then not act honorably and cover their mistakes. I have call the corporate office to complain. after working my way through their 1980″s answering system. I left a message with my complaint. I hope to hear something within their 48 hour quoted window, we will see. Please don”t make the same mistake, hope this helps.
