Carlos Busto

I was referred to Carlos Busto by a friend, now I realized that sometimes referral doesn’t guarantee you anything good, you can say I am naïve. Here is what happened, I purchased a property and the property inspector did the inspection, telling me that the roof needed some attention. So I talked to my investor friend who highly recommended Carlos. So he was hired for the job, his quote was very good, he quoted me $800 to fix it, comparing to typical thousands for a roof job (first red flag), however, since Carlos was a referral, I trusted him whole heartedly. Carlos told me that he can charge so low because he got some “left over” material from his work (so if you are his employer, watch out). He spent one Sat. afternoon and got the job done and I paid him $800. He told me that the roof will be trouble FREE for the next 10 years, if there is any problem, call him, he’ll fix it right away. As you might expect, shortly after the job was done, it rained and it was leaking like hell. I called him up and he avoided my calls, after thousands of calls, he picked up eventually, he said he was too busy to take care it and asked me to hire someone else to work on it. I was shocked; I told him that he had to finish the job. He started yelling and swearing at me saying that I didn’t tell him there was a leak…. Blah blah blah…… Later on, I hired a more qualified roofer and he told me that what Carlos did was just applying some waterproof paint on the roof, any experienced roofer would know that cannot fix the problem. So either Carlos is inexperienced or his is just a crook. I believe he is both. So, if you are planning to hire a “roofer” called Carlos Busto, watch out, I recommend you not to.
