Bought a 1993 Honda Civic (Valuemax) from Carmax 6 months ago…The very first day it overheated…took it back to Carmax..service department told me that they could find no problems after doing a pressure check,test drive ect…two weeks later ran hot again took it back to carmax…service department told me same story…they could find no problems after doing a pressure check,road test ect. (I mentioned to them that I thought it was a cracked head gasket. One week later smoke pours from the muffler while driving home from work,towed car back to carmax…Service Department says it was a cracked head gasket which was under the extended warranty…I paid 25 dollar copayment and 50 dollar towing…total $75.00. Two months later I find a busted boot on drivers side half axel..call carmax service department and make an appointment.Car won’t start to take it to the appointment.. Had to have car towed,went to pick up car service department tells me that the half axel, was under warranty and repaired…and they could find no problems with the no starting problem,that it might have been an ignition clinch…25 dollar copayment and 48 dollar tow bill..$72.00(I mentioned to the service department that the problem is still there,and probably will happen again). Two days later after fueling the vehicle it wouldn’t start in front of the gas pumps at the service station. Called a tow truck,also called carmax and told them that it was getting expensive towing the vehicle on a weekly basis,they agreeded to pay for towing. Carmax called me a couple days later and found a faulty relay,and gave me an estimate of $180.00 to replace,because it wasn’t a warranty item.Its getting to the point now that I am afraid to take the vehicle,no other place except back and forth to work,praying then that it won’t break down. God forbid I take it on a trip and and get stranded, Ive only made 3 payments on it.Its a shame that a company as popular as carmax,wouldn’t contact me and at least help me with repairs instead of ripping me off.
