Since my arrival in this area in 1979, I have worn many hats. Having been a military wife, mom, Critical Care Nurse, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor has given me a broad experience base and knowledge in helping a diverse population. I work with couples and families, both military and civilian, children and adolescents, and the elderly. I often focus on life adjustment issues such as family separation, communication breakdowns, chronic and acute illness, and grief and loss.Although I am a Christian, I honor all faiths and am quite comfortable with spirituality as a frame of reference in therapy.I use primarily a cognitive behavioral, solution-oriented approach to therapy. With small children, I employ play therapy and other more relaxed methods suitable to that age group. My background in nursing along with personal experience helps me in treating the elderly, bereaved, and physically and chronically ill individuals.My practice at St. Simons affords me the ability to see insurance clients as well as to offer a sliding scale fee. I am able to schedule flexible office hours when needed. Our office is wheel-chair accessible, and conveniently located to the Crestview, Destin , and Navarre areas.
