I had a problem with my clutch, so I took my car to Centennial Automotive Repair. There is body damage to the hood, but nothing so severe it was undriveable. The damage has been there for a year and the car has made several trips out of state. When my car was fixed, I left the shop and proceeded onto the highway. I noticed the hood looked a little shaky (the damage causes some air to flow through engine space while driving) so I pulled to the shoulder and had my boyfriend look at it. He said it looked ok (meaning the bungee cord I had tied on for extra security was still in place). We got back in the car and when I sped up to 55mph, the hood flew up and spiderwebbed the whole bottom of the windshield. Luckily, we were safe and I got the car to the side of the road. Upon examination, I learned that the mechanic had simply hitched the bungee and had not actually latched the hood when finished working. After what could have been a very dangerous accident, windshield damage, latch damage (the hood now has to be tied down with wire coat hangers), and damage to the windshield wiper fluid container, Centennial has refused to cover any damages on the grounds that the car was already damaged. I say that’s no reason not to repair the damage that they caused. I have had no luck and have been persistently trying to get a meeting with the owner for a month now. Katy Erie, ColoradoU.S.A.
