I started working with Coast 2 Coast Communications out of Pittsburgh Pa. in one of their satelite offices out of state. The interview was held at breakfast restaurant (should have tipped me off). I was told I would be representing Comcast selling their services to residential customers. I went through a 2 day training class to learn the products and offers with a “General Manager” that seemed to come right out of central casting for Boiler Room. After completing the “training class” I was given an area/neighborhood to go knock on every door to solicit people to change to Comcast from their current video/internet & Phone provider. The product Comcast offers is good I must admit.. but the areas I was sent to were very dangerous. I signed up 1-2 people per day for the Comcast service and was supposed to be paid about $150 per customer.. This is where everything fell apart. Half of the customers were never installed by Comcast or my deals were never processed by Coast 2 Coasts payroll department correctly. On weeks where I only sold 5 customers triple plays, I should have been paid around $750. My highest check was around $280. This does not take into account all the gas money etc I paid for myself. I even had to pay WEEKLY for a Comcast shirt that could not have cost more than $10. We were to be paid 2 weeks after the customer was installed, so most of the time it took a MONTH to get paid. I drove my own car, paid for my own gas, picked up fellow employees that didn’t have vehicles and drove them around for free. I went to other offices to help get them started as a “Swat” team member. I was supposed to be paid additional money per deal and get a gas & food stipend of around $100. I never saw that either eventhough I used my own vehicle. I stayed cramped up in a hotel with multiple other salesreps. I brought all the pay issues to the attention of the General Manager and even the VP. Nothing was done! I was always told that the GM would send in an email to Comcast or payroll. NOTHING happened except excuse after excuse. I even signed up people I knew personally. They were installed and I still was not paid or paid incorrectly. I won multiple gas cards through sales contests. I never saw 1 of them. The VP would come into town from time to time and give a profanity laced speach to all of us about “Tracking our business.” and basically blame us as salesmen for all of the issues. He would pat you on the back and promise, “I’ll take care of everything cuz.” and nothing happened. One of the core values that Coast 2 Coast proclaims is that they promote from within the company. Personally I never saw 1 person promoted from the company ranks. The same few GM’s seemed to just take on new opportunities as new offices opened. I could write for hours about all the mistruths I was fed, but I hope you get the idea. Be very careful if you decide to interview with this company! Don’t expect a paycheck for a month at least.. and when you do get it, the paycheck will probably be 1/4 of what you were expecting. And then watch for clawbacks for 4 months. Don’t make the same mistake I did. .
