The decision I made of going to Dental Associates P.A. was one of my worst decisions ever. And it is NOT an overstatement. I had my teeth cleaned frequently from one of my family dentists, but because of old age, he retired recently so I had to change the dentist. Therefore after suggestions from my near ones, I decided to go to the Dental Associates P.A. and I regret it the most. Since my tooth needs regular cleansing or else cavity does all it works, I made an appointment with Dr David A. Sumiback of the Dental Associates P.A. My appointment was of 4 pm so I reached half an hour before the given time. As soon as I entered the clinic I was told to wait in the waiting arena until my turn. The open dustbin kept in the hall was very much smelly and one could not stay in here for long, therefore I requested the staff members to spray the room freshener to get rid of the pungent smell. Even after making a request the staff members didn’t show up again and came only when the dentist was vacant to call another patient. I would give a zero star regarding hygiene. Nevertheless, I waited for about another 45 minutes until the doctor called me in.
The doctor was the least talkative person I have ever met. He always remained quiet even after listening to all my problems. He would rather boast about his achievements than listening to my problems. Usually, the doctors use an instrument to numb the area and then word upon as I have experienced from many years with my home doctor. Therefore I suggested him to use the machine and proceed with the work but he chose not to do so and said we certainly don’t need to complicate and it will be alright even without that. As soon as he began my gums started hurting and as I was getting restless he told me to sit still but it was hurting so much that I couldn’t control, by this time he got angry and shouted on me ‘ shut up and stay still’. This was not at all expected by me and I was never hurt before when the cleansing was done, is the first time I was not at all ok with this doctor. He then used a pointed instrument to keep my mouth in the same position, but suddenly the machine got misplaced and stuck on my gums. I jumped out of my seat as the pain was very awful and unbearable. My gums were bleeding now.
The scaling is usually done in more than 2 phases so I asked the doctor that when should I come next, although I didn’t want to but had to complete the procedure. The doctor then replied to me that it’s all over and nothing more could be done. This was disgusting and I would have given a thumbs down to the Dental Associates P.A. for this kind of treatment. All I had was pain and problems throughout.
