I saw Jerome Almon’s “catapult to stardom” posts on LinkedIn last week. It all sounded really good: $100,000 publicity, Times Square Billboards, interviews with networks… so I submitted. He contacted me saying that my work was “impressive” and he offered me “special deal” since he “believed” in me: $250 down payment on $1000 investment on $100,000 publicity! Who can say no to that? He demanded the down payment on Friday in order to be “good to go” for this week, which was imperative since the media all tied into the Superbowl and it had to be done this week! I sent him the money on Friday, talked to him all weekend about the idea of the video, the interview (he kept saying he’d send the script but never did), etc. .
