This report is according to the record no. 42550 of Medical Board. The disciplinary action that was taken in this regard was the license was surrendered by the accused person voluntarily. Dr. Blair Nelson has admitted that he stole the prescription drugs.
ST. PAUL is a Pelican Rapids doctor; he also practiced in Fargo. He has pleaded guilty as he wrote fraudulent prescriptions for his personal usage. At least 1,730 oxycodone medicines, hydrocodone medicines, as well as a number of other pills were obtained by Dr. Blair Nelson. He wrote the prescription to different pharmacies and used the names of his friends, family members, etc. After that he picked the drugs up by himself for using them for his personal use; it is said by Minnesota U.S. Attorney named Andy Luger. It was published in a release on Wednesday.
It was said by Lugar that Dr. Blair entered the guilty plea in the court’s federal issues region. At that time Susan Nelson was the judge and he was there as an in charge of taking a controlled substance by deception.
Andy Lugar said that the diversion of a prescription drug is considered to be an ongoing threat. It is alarming for both the health of the public and its safety. He also said that as he worked with his colleagues closely, he and his sub ordinates clamped down on a fraud of prescription drug at the Drug Enforcement Administration. The prescriptions were written by Nelson between the time periods from May 2013 to September 2016. The doctor continued writing prescriptions even after the release of the State of Minnesota suspended his medical license in the month of October in 2013.
The Attorney of the United States named M. Luger announced about the guilty plea of Dr. BLAIR A. NELSON. He obtained different prescription drugs and medicines by writing as well as filling those fraudulent prescriptions. It has been shown by the defendant’s guilty plea that Dr. Blair Nelson was practicing in medicines in Pelican Rapids, Minn., and Fargo, N.D. He began to write the prescription to different pharmacies in the region of Minnesota for drugs like amphetamines, oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc. He wrote the prescriptions in such a way that he used the names of his friends and family members. After he issued the prescriptions, he used those drugs for his own usage.
During the time periods from May 2013 to September 2014, there were some documents that came up in the court along with the guilty plea. All these things showed that Dr. Blair Nelson actually attempted to get about 1,730 pills from different sources like Wal-Mart, Target, and Walgreens. He obtained them for his personal use and he wrote the prescriptions by using the names of his relatives and friends. He continued writing the prescriptions for a long time even after October 8, 2013, when the State of Minnesota suspended his medical license came up. All the investigation about the case was done by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
