Former patients of Dr. Felicia Brabham have until April 20 to pick up their records. The Hendersonville doctor surrendered her medical license after she was charged with breaking into a neighboring medical office in 2013. The Henderson County Department of Public Health and its director have been appointed as the temporary custodians of the records by the North Carolina Medical Board. Those records that are not claimed will be destroyed by the health department, according to Steven E. Smith, Henderson County Health Director.
Brabham used to practice internal medicine and was arrested in October 2013. She was charged with breaking and entering as well as felony larceny. She had moved her lab supplies, medical records and even her cat into a neighboring office, alleged Hendersonville Police. She was also seeing patients in this office – Carolina Plastic Surgery Office on Sixth Avenue.
Carolina Plastic Surgery has its main office in South Carolina. When Brabham was arrested, the physicians were only using the Hendersonville office about once a month. Brabham will appear in court on these charges in March, according to officials at the Henderson County Clerk of Court. Brabham had her license suspended indefinitely in May last year. She has to wait a year before she can reapplying for it.
Some of the medical record files are extensive, and patients can call 898-694-6001 to set a time to pick them up. Proper legal identification and documentation must be brought.
