LITTLETON, Colo. – A Littleton pediatrician had his medical license suspended on Tuesday, after having faced allegations of illegally touching one of his teenage patients.
Dr. Michael Brazelton had been in practice in Colorado for more than 25 years. Brazelton practiced at Healthy Habits Pediatrics, in Littleton, till Tuesday. He is said to face a criminal investigation in this case.
As per the legal documents submitted by Colorado Medical Board, Brazelton had touched a teenage patient’s genitals without gloves for no particular medical reason. The patient had come to Brazelton with the symptoms of cold.
Brazelton is employed by Pediatrics West in Littleton, as per the state records. Though Pediatrics West said that Brazelton was fired from the practice in 2011.
He currently works with other doctors at Healthy Habits Pediatrics at the same location. The staff members at the place said on Wednesday, that they had no comments to make about the allegations made against Brazelton.
Calls were made to Brazelton’s Littleton home but were not received at the other end, as of late Wednesday.
As per the legal documents, the panel of state officials that ordered the suspension of Brazelton’s license, had reviewed his previous disciplinary history. The cases from his past were not readily available though.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said that they had the news of the allegations made but did not set a formal criminal investigation in the case as of late Wednesday.
Brazelton is affiliated with Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge and Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora.
