Philip Roger Matthews had his license suspended by the Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery pending further legal action. The King County osteopathic physician did not meet care requirement standards when it came to prescribing opioids and managing pain for five patients, said a news statement. The news statement was released by the Washington State Department of Health on December 8th. He has 20 days to ask for a hearing to contest the suspension and charges against him.
In 2013, Matthews had agreed on an order pertaining to illegal prescription of opioids. The allegations then said that he had over prescribed opioids to his patients. Even though he is currently subject to the agreed order, he did not respond appropriately now to instances of drug seeking behavior or drug diversion. This is part of the official statement that was released.
