A dispute I have with E&M Motors. I bought a car with E&M Motors on the 09 September 2016 at E&M Motor. This was through advise from a colleague who recommended that I connect with his girlfriend”s dad, who happens to own a dealer, for my car requirement when I informed him I was looking for an automatic car. I contacted the dad and he suggested that his friend (next door dealer) has something for me. Trusting his judgement (considering his a dealer and the fact that I knew nothing about cars), we went to the next door dealer, whom I later learned his name was Marius, and he showed us a nice looking Automatic Hyundai i20. He said the car has never been in an accident and it”s in a very good condition – I must agree the car looked the part from the outside. The I told him I”m interested and we can continue with paperwork. However I couldn”t take the car home with me as he said “He still needs to paint the car just to make it nice and remove small scratches”. I had no problem with that, and I agreed. Then days later I met up with him in Hatfield to collect thee car as he said it was ready. I didn”t pick up anything wrong with it as I had never driven before except the car I was learning how to drive with a month earlier. A few days later from that day I picked up that the car boot does not lock, and the fog light (one of the lights) does not work, car keys are messed up and that the hooter does not work and that the seat belts are loose. I alerted him and he said I should bring the car in and he will fix my issues. He had the car for a while and days later claimed I can come collect it. However, he only bought a Kia Key for the car and only the boot appeared to be fixed. The few days I the car with me I picked up more issues and this cycle repeated for the next few weeks. Up until I took the car in for a technical inspection were they told me the car has serious issues and is not road worthy. i contacted him requesting that I get a refund. Which he now refuses to give me and hence my reason for contacting the ombudsman.
