Rather than sending a letter – which would detail any outstanding debt owed by my late father I received a phone call. This is not an appropriate way to collect the debt of a deceased person. Send me the details and I’ll be happy to determine if, in fact, there was a debt. A phone call could come from anyone and the person on the line could say anything. You must back up your collection with facts: copy of debt owed. copy of any signed document by my late father. I handled my fathers’ finances for the past several years and know that he owed nothing. Not one penny to anyone. He owned his house and the only bills he ever received (for 2 years that I lived with him) were utilities and insurance. His auto and home insurance were paid for one year, they are not due until February of 2016. All utilities are now in the Estate of …. and not his name-they are mailed to me the executor of his estate. Does this company just troll through the classifieds to see if they can scare money out of people who lost a loved one? I can understand how their inability to use the mail and doe things the appropriate way could cause concern to anyone that doesn’t know of their loved one’s finances. Send me something that proves you are owed this money. Don’t make a phone call. That’s ridiculous – I’ll just block you. .
