My attorney which was supposed to represent me in Court to collect my relocation fees from the landlord did not represent me properly. She did not present documentation, did not speak to the landlord attorney in trying to demand my relocation fees that were due to me because of Los Angeles Housing Department ordinance and inspection report stating that I was indeed living in an unregistered unit that was not approved by the City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles. On May 14, 2015, Commissionr Robert Harrison determined the final outcome of the case. He stated that my landlord did not have much money. He said that she has a permit for the unregistered unit to be a wreck room or a sleeping room. Documentation from the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, Department of Housing , Notice and Order to Comply issued by them was totally ignored by the landlord. Case Number 504981 issued by the Los Angeles Housing Community Investment Department. Issuing Inspector Brian Engstrand, dated February 27, 2015. Landlord proceeded to get a permit in late March 2015 for the unregistered unit and was able to obtain one. The permit is only for a wreck room. She rented it to me as a single bedroom (back rear) and charged me as if it were a rental apartment. I moved in on August 2012 and am currently still residing there. She completely ignored the Housing Departments letters stating that the Unit was not registed and she would have to pay me relocation fees to move and serve me with a Declaration of Intent to Evict in Order to comply with a government agency’s order. My attorney did not present the commissioner that day with my defense and I had to show him documentation and explain to him about the Inspection Report and letters from the Housing Department. She just sat there while I consistently defended my case. I was not given relocation fees from the landlord and I have to move out in 30 days, starting May 14, 2015.
