I ve been looking for a sistant job on criaglists i stumbled upon this person named Harry Boothman. he needed a assistant with great pay so i thought he was legit. I emailed him my resume and 2 weeks later he emailed me letting me know i got the job. so i was excited, he then emailed me my first “assignment”. he told mewe would meet in person formy “paperwork”.he needed this done becaise he wasn’t in new york city this week so i thought ok as long as i get my pay its fine. i would be sent a check that was my first weeks pay and the rest to buy some toys for a orphange. i thought thats really nice so ok ill do it. he sent me a check for 2,849.99.i thought he would send like 500 or something. i thought that was fishy to be sending that much money to someone you never met. so i declined the job and he emailed me back saying he needs this done and i can quit. i thought okay what ever get thisndone then ill look for another job. he wanted me to deposit the check in my bank account. the check had my name and everything on it. it looked legit to me completly. the only thing i knew about bad checks was depositing a check not in your name so i thought he must be legit. after i went to the bank nd deposted the check my account was frozen n i was so confused. so i talk to a representative and she told me i deposited a fake check i eas so confused and shocked. i had no ideai was being played i was just looking for a honest job with good pay. she told me to make a report to this person so he can pay the bank back. everything seemed so legit and now i feel stupid i should have done my research.
