10575 E. Washington Street Indianapolis In. [protected] Extremely rude customer service manager I set my return items on the counter while I looked for my receipt I explained I had a receipt for all items except one. She flipped out. I go to that store a lot I never had any problems. She said i have worked here for six years you expect me to take the stuff out of the bag I not going to. That your responsibility, They don’t pay me to do that, that’s rude of you and since you want to be rude I give what I get. This was so odd, How did she perceive that as being rude I have no clue. So I proceeded to take items out of the bag, then she got confused as to what item did not have a receipt so she then stared making a screen. The line got long I told her just put the stuff backinwill leave. She said I give what I get they pay be enough to take this. She said I will get a manager to help you. In horrible loud tone she called the manager. I told her did not understand how she could have a badge on that says customer service manager, conduct unbecoming for any manager title. as rude a she was. Then she walked off. If she has been working there 6 years should be fired today. The manager then tried to help by checking me out and then the cash register would not work. It was a big mess. She belittled me. And there should be a write up in her file. June Williams [protected]

Hobby Lobby Stores Reviews & Complaints
12/31/16 I came into store in Brooksville Florida to return door handles that I had purchased that did work for me and I no longer wanted. I had the receipt and the items and went to return register. The cashier counted the items and got a total. She then said she had to have a manager override because the amount was over $100. I waited while one manager came over looked at register and asked if anything was wrong with items. He then motioned for another manager who came over and just nodded. Both the managers had no customer service abilities and treated me like I was a criminal. They were rude and not friendly and acted like they were CIA agents doing some secret mission. I was very put out and was insulted by their attitudes and lack of professionalism. It was New Years Eve and neither of them even could manage a half hearted attempt for any pleasantries. The only thing I would like to resolve this is for them to get some kind of training or get wrote up. They should not be working around paying customers and I will not be visiting that store again due to their behavior and attitude.
Hobby Lobby Stores Reviews & Complaints
A few Saturdays ago, my sister, daughter and niece were at the Clarksville Hobby Lobby. We were getting flowers for arrangements for my daughter”s wedding next month. I purchased over $500 of flowers and other wedding items. I have no complaint about that but when my sister went back in this past Monday to get more flowers, she asked one of your employees if there would be any more burlap ribbon. My sister called to tell me that the employee (a lady) was just rude to her. She did not get the lady”s name but afterwards she wished she had gotten it. I just feel like we spent so much time and money in your store but yet were treated badly when asked a question to an employee. I would like this to be addressed. Thanks.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Corporate and the managers of this location do not think the customer is right at all. I was trying to find some items so my mother asked an employee where they were. The employee proceeded to show my mom down the fall aisle where it was located & it was 50% off. I grabbed all they had on the shelf (4 for like 3.99 or 4.99 each) and proceeded to the checkout. After getting to the checkout, it was the same nice lady that showed my mother where the items were. She then realized (as we already decided to purchase them) that they were a floral item so they wouldn”t be included in the 50% off. We requested a manager so we could get the 50% as it was on the shelf as that price. The asst. manager came over & said she couldn”t override the price for 50% because it didn”t belong where we found it. Now how is that my fault? That would be your failure hobby lobby for not having your product in the right spot and I as a customer shouldn”t suffer from your carelessness. So after the asst. manager told us no, we asked to talk to the first manager of the store. He did not come up front to talk to us face-to-face she called him and he had also said no for the price override. We left the store and after called corporate in hopes they would make it right for us because that”s what they”re here for, right? Wrong. They did absolutely nothing. No apology or anything. They took their managers side & said it is their call if they wanted to override it. How wrong is that? Every other business I”ve been to if it”s their fault having the product in the wrong spot they would compensate by giving the price as advertised. Not at hobby lobby. Customer is treated with no respect at all. Don”t bother calling corporate either because they believe their business is running perfectly with no appology to the customer.

After spending hundreds of dollars in this Hobby lobby for my home and a baby shower I was treated awful! Let me start by saying I am a store manager so I get retail, and have never wrote a complaint on a company or a restaurant because I clearly get how difficult the customer can be. I entered the store, no one spoke to me. Which I am ok with but I”m sure this isn”t the expectation for the company. When I got to the register to do my return, a lot of customers were waiting. I waited in line with my husband and child but it was taking too long so my husband took my two year old outside. I was next in line and when I went to the register her only response was I only take purchases. No sorry someone else will take you in a moment. So I had to get back in line and wait. I watch three other people get service while I waited for the slow cashier at the return desk to get done with one customer. I stepped outside to see if my child was ok so I could continue to wait. As I stepped back in the manager says to me we close in 5 minutes. Again an unpleasant first impression. Then I explain to him what happened. He seemed annoyed with me and responded with “well I don”t know what happened I wasn”t there.” As a manager I would have taken care of the customer. I left and never got service. This is by far the worst staff not one nice person in there. I can understand why they think this is ok though. Even the manager could care less about his customers. I was so disgusted I would rather not return my stuff so I don”t have to interact with such unprofessional people. This store sucks!!!

After visiting your store for the first time I was very impressed until my wife and I left and she mentioned there was a 40% off one item sale this evening which was never mentioned to me by the cashier or any other employee during the purchase of several items one of which totaled over $125 spending in total over $200. Needless to say this had left an incredibly horrible fowl taste in my mouth not to mention the increasingly uncomfortable burning sensation in the seat of my pants. I would like to have said I left your store elated feeling like a valued and important customer just having had an incredible Lucky and helpful shopping experience. Unfortunately this is not the case and at this point not sure it will be as far as I and all of my associates are concerned. Discearningly, Chris Rowe

Anyone who has known me for more than a half hour knows how much I loved Hobby Lobby. I am/was a FABULOUS customer. (On average I spend about $1500 a year at HL.) Until last week when I bought four pieces of curtain fabric. I brought them home and hemmed and made a casing for one panel. When I hung it I realized it had been cut very crooked and was not the full length I asked for and paid for. I took out the casing to measure and sure enough it was lacking about 2″. I then measured the other 3 pieces and all three were also short. It is not easy to measure long pieces of sheer fabric-who has a table that long in their homes? But I cleared off my dining table and got a friend to help me lay them flat and measure with a metal yardstick. It was a PAIN! So I took them back for a refund. I had to wait in line and then was sent to the fabric dept so they could measure and make sure I wasn”t lying. So I waited some more. (I”m handicapped) Sure enough they were all cut too short. However, the manager refused to allow me the refund on the piece I had sewn. She actually said that I should not have assumed that her employee had cut it properly and I should have measured it myself at home before I hemmed it. Stupid me to assume that HL employees are doing their jobs correctly! Her argument was that she couldn”t re-sell. Not MY problem. I am not the one who made FOUR mistakes. But that aside, I pointed out that if she cut off the half inch hem and the 2″ casing she would have a perfectly saleable piece of fabric. She would not call the store manager. When I got home I contacted the corporate office and they too failed to issue a refund. We are talking here about a whopping $14. They “discussed” it with the store manager and will ask employees to be ore careful but too bad-so sad that I am inconvenienced.

As a soon to be former employee I just want to clarify how the store works, and why you notice that almost every employee is miserable and bitter. 1. Hobby lobby pays decent for part-time, good for full time. 2. Training is non – existent, unless a manager takes a liking to you. This is a serious issue, and its why most people leave the job. 3. You do not get enough time to do any tasks. Managers are put under extreme pressure by upper level people who show off their supreme power over them. I had a manager who was a great guy – started from the bottom – but he still was chewed out all the time – for negligible things like a basket of overstock. 4. This is a christian company. By christian, that means you get a day off on sunday. That is all that means. 5. Employees have stock tests. Employees are only allowed to order a certain amount of an item. At some point randomly during the month, a district/regional manager will show up and have 100 different items, and check if you have them and have the correct amount. This means that the employee may have to pray that a customer (You) doesn”t come and buy the item that may be on the stock test, so he/she doesn”t get in trouble. See how it makes no sense? Imagine that an employee orders wooden crates. There is a sale on wood next week, and the truck comes on thursday. Thursday comes, and the crates are received. Friday comes, and 1/3 of the crates are sold. Saturday comes and another 1/3 is sold by noon. At 2, the stock test is done. Employee fails. Employee also would”ve failed if he had too much on the shelf. Employee also is unable to order past a basic amount. Employee must judge the future to pass most of these. 6. Part time receives 10.23 an hour, full time receives 15.35. However, unless it is during november and december, employees will not make it to 40 hours. Hours are cut and the smart employees come the 5 minutes early each day to get a tiny bit extra. I average 32 each week. This is because… 7. Bonuses are given by payroll. Thus the payroll that is not used, is given to the managers. Thus a serious incentive to cut hours. 8. If you are an average worker, you get closing hours. 9. If you are an above average worker, you get the harder closing hours… This means… 10. When they cut hours, they leave the workers with less than half departments filled. Frame shop covers sewing and home accent covers crafts and cashiers cover seasonal and party and paper crafts etc. This means you are constantly running around, getting asked questions about departments that you don”t have a clue on, trying to put things back that you haven”t seen before (Its not your department) 11. Lowest employees treated wrongly. Stockmen are the lowest position in the store, and they run the store. They dissect the panels, clean the spills, grab the carts, climb the ladders, unload the truck, sort the truck – yet they get their hours cut first, and are only respected by the full time workers. Stock men usually quit after a month or two. 12. Dumb scheduling. Managers will tell full time workers that their job is their priority and they must be available at all times. They can and usually will disregard your availability. 13. Technology. All items are inputted by hand. Nothing can be scanned except one item in the store (Fabric set pieces 99 cents each). This can lead to long lines, and errors regarding sales. Register errors mean termination. There is no way to look up stock in the store. Price checks cannot be done at the register, has to be done in the break room in the back of the store. 14. Full time workers are also cashiers. Mandatory, so that they can cut the hours of normal cashiers. 15. 15 minute breaks and 30 minute unpaid lunch breaks. You can”t leave a line on the register, and if you miss your 15 minute break you lose it. You cannot go to the break room and grab your car keys and clock out, you must clock out first and then get your things. This is why most hobby lobby employees always look like they are running. 16. Stocking. Customers need help, its retail, what do you expect. However, managers rarely help with the stocking and want it done by a certain time. So every customer you help is potentially getting you closer to termination. If you go to this store and find a good employee who helped you – please tell management. It can save that employee. 17. Phones cannot be in your pocket. Phones cannot be on your person. This rule does not apply to managers, who can text, and browse when and wherever they feel like it. 18. Managers get 1 hour lunches. 19. Low knowledge of cashiers mean more work for you. Cashiers take back returns from years ago, and you are given flowers or items that no longer exist. Cashiers can”t tell what is in the store because they don”t get to learn where and what we currently have. 20. Managers will sometimes get upset if you tell about the 40% off coupon. I only tell people who ask for veterans discount (We don”t offer). 21. Rules slow down your progress, and managers want you to follow and not follow them at the same time. -baler must not be operated by anyone other than a manager (They then give you the task of cleaning the warehouse – full of boxes) -all top caps must come down in an hour (Rule says you have to block off two isles before any top shelf work, but managers will tell you to not do that because it takes too long – which is true – but wrong -clean your department before leaving (“do this task until 15 minutes left, then clean up and fix your department in the 5 minutes you have left – oh and don”t leave until you do – but don”t stay over time. Just hope you guys understand.
Hobby Lobby Stores Reviews & Complaints
As an artist as well as a Christian I have always been a supporter of Hobby Lobby. However, recently, I encountered an experience with a store here in Jacksonville Fl (14286 Beach Blvd. Unit 1) with store manager: Ryan that is really not reflective of the core values of hobby lobby. If you would be so patient to hear my account of trying to retrieve my $60 deposit from renting candelabras for my wedding and the very degrading and rude treatment I experienced by Ryan. I got married april 2017 and went on my honeymoon immediately after. Knowing that i would need to have someone return the two candelabras on monday morning. I was fearful I would have difficulties in retrieving my deposit. so I had the store manager write me a note ensuring I could receive my deposit when i returned from my honeymoon. I returned multiple times to the store being told the manager needed to be present or return during corporate business hours because the cashier system was too old to retrieve the transaction details. Today, September 7, 2017 I visited the store to attempt once more to receive my deposit of $60 that was owed to me from my rental of candelabras for my wedding. Ryan stated he was “doing me a favor to return to me my deposit of $60. I was looking for you in the store last week when they (corporate) called me, not three weeks later!” He was extremely rude and degrading in his delivery as I was finally refunded the $60 deposit. I bring this to your attention in hopes of a resolution. I have worked in corporate retail, operations, overseeing 900+ stores, regional managers, district managers and store managers in operations and enterprise wide special project implementations. This behavior/customer service is very damaging to the brand, corporation and our community here in Jacksonville. I have never experienced such a degrading customer service. I hope to continue to shop at hobby lobby for my art supplies in the future, but if I am continuously treated this way I am afraid I will not be able to.

As I’m waiting in line and the customer in front of me was checking out, as he was the employee Named Rita G started talking to another customer in another line and started ignoring him. He said thanks have a good day and she still continued to talk to someone else. As I approached the desk she said nothing to me but continued to talk to the other customer. And I wait there not being helped for almost a minute she finally starting ringing me up. Doesn’t say anything to me and still continues to talk to someone else. Only when she has my total does she tell me my total I give her the money and she gives me my change I said thanks and she replied and said nothing to me once again. Now I’m not the type of person to typically complain about service, but when I’m being completely ignored and not even thanked for my purchase I think that’s completely not ok. I love Hobby Lobby and I will never return to this location again.

Covert Racial Profiling/Covert Consumer Racism… I went into the store on Saturday, September 7th around 4:30 pm-5:00 pm looking to buy a zipper… I of course noticed the obvious which was that besides myself, it near zero other people of my same race in the store at the time I was there… The covert racial profiling took place when an older Caucasian/white man with gray head and facial hair wearing a baseball cap and a stripped polo shirt with khaki shorts got in line behind me… (There were only two cashier lanes open by the way… He was standing in close proximity behind me which peaked my attention… He was the last person in line behind me at the cashier lane I was in … More people were lined up at the cashier lane on the opposite side…For a minute I thought, “is this some pervert..” I could feel him starring toward me … So I walked up closer toward the cashier… When it was finally my turn at the register I began talking to the cashier about me not finding the zipper I was actually looking for and inquired about any other zippers Hobby Lobby may have carried…It was when I pulled my debit card out to pay, the Caucasian/white man that was standing in close proximity behind me abruptly walked away from behind me and stood in front of both of the cashier lanes with his arms arms crossed as if he was observing like he was security or a manager… The cashier did not find his behavior odd and never made eye contact with him… Plus despite starring at me while standing behind me, he avoided eye contact with me once he was standing in front of the registers looking out…I looked at him. He did not have anything in his hands as if to be buying something…I knew then, he tried to be slick and sneaky with covertly racial profiling…This is what consumer racism looks like now…It has evolved from overtly projecting racism by following people around throughout a store. Now it is projected more covertly… This was my first time going to this Hobby Lobby location and will be my last…

Dear Sir or Ma”am, On [protected] I was checking out and an employee told me that the item I thought was on sale at 50% off (collage frame) was actually not however, I could use my 40% off coupon on it, I said ok. This frame was for my sister (cost $44.93) After I finished with that order I started with my second order then upon checkout I presented her with another coupon that my mother behind me had just given me to use. The employee told me I could not use it and the reason behind it. I then told her I would not have used the coupon on the collage frame. I then paid and put my items in my buggy. I then got back in line at another line was going to checking out (Yes I was going to use coupon) When the cashier from the first time (Kay) starting hollering at me and telling the other cashier YOU CAN”T use that coupon I told you can”t use that coupon!! I was so ashamed and upset by this person, the customers in the store at check started to look at me as though I had stolen something. I then went back to her line because it was the return line. I told her that I just wanted to return everything!!! She then told the other cashier to check me out using the coupon this one time. The other cashier lady asked me if I wanted to speak to a manager. I said no, I was almost in tears due to embarrassment and humiliation. Then Kay stated over approx. (8) times in an extremely rude manner ” she could not do this she could loose her job.” Still embarrassing me even more, I left the store. The more I thought about it the more it bothered me, so I called the store and explained the problem I had. She stated she would talk with staff. I did not feel they took me serious . I then returned to the store, talked with a manager and returned items. I am Extremely disappointed with the unprofessional customer service in this store!! By the way the coupon would have saved about $ 3.00, I returned $44.93 one entire purchase and $85.00 the other entire purchase. During my visit at Hobby Lobby in Albemarle NC I needed to return a few things. During the return process Lisa the cashier was extremely helpful and very nice to work with! However, Jim who I believe is the manager (a very bad one at that) was very rude to the cashier helping us in front of the customers! We could not help that we were returning something and held up the line. And it certainly was not the cashiers fault! As well as very disrespectful to address her in such behavior in front of all of their customers! Maybe the line would not be held up if he was to schedule more cashiers to help out on a weekend! I have been here multiple times here recently and only one cashier is working and I”ve had to wait longer than I should! After this happened we were helped in the floral isle by Robin who was also very nice and helpful with us to get things for my wedding day! While we were in the floral department we notice some floral stems that had a sign above them that stated 75% off after taking them to the register to purchase them for my wedding. Once at the register a man named Danny told us he couldn”t sell them at that price that they were not the correct ones. We walked with him to the aisle along with multiple other customers wanting to purchase these floral stems and showed him where they were placed and the sign. He stated that he could not sell them to us and there was nothing he could do about it. We mentioned that maybe he should move them because it was misleading to the customers. As we were talking he ignored us and we all felt that, that was extremely rude! I shop at this store a lot because I live near but if service continues as follows I will be doing my shopping else where. I think the store would benefit by adding more associates like Lisa and Robin and less like Danny and Jim!

Employees are not given adequate lunch breaks when the store is busy. The supervisor does not cover for the employee (cash register employees)to make sure they get their break causing the employee to only get a shorter lunch and being told to get back to work! This is against the law. Furthermore, the supervisor Tim has reprimanded the employees in front of others causing the employees to be embarrassed and humiliated. He has taken the word of the older employees and not given the younger employees space to explain their side of a situation making the younger employees to feel attacked and unsafe as an employee.

Entering the store – I went to the jewelry isle to find crimp beads and I picked some off of a couple of racks; As I was looking at other things in the store, I remembered that in my purse was a plastic bag of tools, crimpers and wire used to hang my carvings in a show last weekend. I removed a package of crimper beads from my bag to compare with and realized that I had picked up more of the same size, so I returned the ones that I had picked up to the jewelry isle and picked up some key rings, proceeded to the check out counter with my purchases and told the young man that I was putting my things back in my purse, paid for my purchases and started to leave the store when the manager and security accused me of stealing and took me to the office. We watched the videos and they showed me taking the items from the shelf, it showed me returning to the shelf that is all – it never showed me concealing anything, never any intent to steal anything – I tried to tell him that the items that he took from my purse was mine – paid for at a store in Austin, told him that I had receipts, but not with me as I was just passing through town to another showing of my art works. I offered to provided them if he would only let me go get them. But instead he never ever offered any proof of his accusations, never asked the sales clerk if he could back my story, but rather had the officers write up a citation to appear in court and would not let me leave the room without signing a paper stating that if I ever enter another Hobby Lobby I will be charged with trespassing! I did provide the receipts to the judge and she dismissed the case, but the manager stole my belongings; literally “kidnapped” me into signing the paper (that is what the Judge called it)-and embarrassed, frightened me and harassed me as I have never been treated before. What can a person do to regain their pride after something like this. I teach crafts and woodcarving and show my art work all over Texas and New Mexico – I have spent a lot of time and money with this chain of stores – and now to be banned from all of them without probable cause?

First time in this store and I go to check out. The cashier doesn”t say hello or anything and I hand her my coupon and she smarts off telling me I cannot use it on sales items. That fine I knew that but I honestly did not check the price on a single item I purchased. I got smart back and said just check me out. The manager I am assuming asks if everything is okay and I say no and she turns to the other employee and starts talking to her again. Then the cashier wraps both of my ornaments in the same paper. I start to leave and the cashier tells the person behind me hello how are you. I will not ever go back in this store. Store # 804

For a Christian based store, I had a very unchristian like experience yesterday. Our church is having an Easter candlelight service. So, I went to the Gastonia. NC Hobby Lobby is purchase votive candles. They carry a box of 12 votives for $7.99 ( price printed on the box, not an attached sticker). Understanding their 40% coupon (one per customer per day), I went on three different days to make a purchase. I paid $5.11 a box on each visit. Saturday I went to the same store to purchase another box. On them now is a yellow “sale sticker” for $7.99 on the box. When I got to checkout I was told I could not use the 40% coupon since the item was “on sale”. On sale for the same price of $7.99? I don”t understand. When I questions this the clerk checked with a supervisor who tried to tell me they usually sell for $11.99. I don”t think so! She in turn asked the manager if I could use my coupon and he said no. I tried to show them my receipts from earlier in the week, but they weren”t interested. I frequent this store on a regular basis and can”t begin to tell you how many items decorate my home from Hobby Lobby. What a disappointing experience this was. Needless to say I left the store without the votives and will be making my purchase elsewhere. It is dishonest to mark a regular priced item “on sale” for the very same price! Where is the Christian example here!

For frame of reference, this is over a $6 cut of fabric. I had recently purchased a small amount of faux suede (less than 2yds) but had the opportunity to acquire some real leather. I needed more findings and since I still had my receipt, I took the fabric (with original measuring ticket still attached) and receipt with me to see if cut fabric could be returned. I was told I needed my receipt and that they had to measure it to be sure it hadn”t been used. When I went to have it measured the person working immediately declared that they didn”t carry the fabric. I pointed to it, still on the rack with the other synthetics. Next, when they measured it, it turned out to be longer than noted on the ticket and the staff person had written the wrong price per yard. At register, the manager proceeded to tell me that it wasn”t the fabric I had purchased, even though the prices clearly matched and all paperwork was accounted for. The price I on the ticket and the receipt matched. I was then told that *I* needed to come back and talk to the staff person who had cut the fabric. First of all I have provided all your required information, do your job. Secondly it is not my problem that the store”s employees don”t note exactly what they”re selling when they write a ticket. Thirdly is also not my problem if store employees can”t measure. I literally was returning something that I got under charged for, and was treated like a lying theif.

For years I have shopped at hobby lobby for both personal and business. I have always used the coupon when available and used for two transactions if I was buying personal and paying with my personal credit card and business when paying with the business card. Today the cashier would not let me use a coupon for two completely separate transactions, something that has never happened. They told me it has always been this way but that is false as I have always paid separate and used separate coupons for business and personal. This really upset me and I was embarrassed severely as they basically called me a liar in the fact that I have always done this. Very disappointed !

framing department is incompetent. can”t read a calendar. condescending to customers. lies about pick up dates. lies about work done. must learn from store manager, because he said the exact same lies to me. they gave me a date 3.5 weeks out for framing FIVE pictures. when i went to pick them up, they weren”t ready. i was agitated. they couldn”t give them back because they”d have to take them out of the frames AFTER they just told me FIVE minutes previously that they hadn”t been touched. i went straight home and sent an email to HOBBYLOBBY.COM an hour later, i received a call from the manager that they were finished. REALLY ?! jesus would have been impressed. after 3+ weeks, they were miraculously done in ONE HOUR ?!!! ( i must question the quality, now…) the manager told me that they can be done at anytime on the day we give you. i said why did you tell me the 16th? if you tell me the 16th, they should be ready for me when you open the doors at 9 am. well, he told me, they”re ready now. wow. enjoy looking at them in that uppity frame shop of yours 🙂 since you are SO busy, you don”t have time for me and obviously, DO NOT NEED ME as a customer…

Good Day, I was at your Madison store in Mississippi this past week. There is a African American female manager (Sharma), that I asked for assistance, however she was on her cell phone texting and ignored me and walked off. Then I watched an African-American woman walked up to her and asked her for something, she assisted them. So I thought that she may have not heard me, so I went up to her when she was finish with the lady and asked her again for assistance, she walked away from with her phone again. I finally found a rep who helped me and asked who I could report the manager to and she directed me to the website. I will not mention her name, because I do not want her in trouble with her manager. If this is the caliber of managers you hire at your stores, it will only be a matter time before the rest of the staff there starts to treat people horrendously.

Good Morning! I have always been very proud of Hobby Lobby, its Christian foundation, and the stand you have taken for righteousness in our Nation. I have always felt happy to support your business when I have made purchases in your stores. Recently, however, I purchased a sewing project panel (by V.I.P.) which makes into a soft book for a baby/toddler, and was very surprised and disappointed when I went to cut it out. It was the first time I’d read ALL the prayers which were printed on the fabric pages. They were all fine, until the last page! It was a prayer to Saint Christopher for safety in travels, etc! You’ve got to be kidding me! REALLY?! That is heresy! According to God’s Word, we pray to our Heavenly Father in Jesus Name. We are not to be praying to anyone else, because no one else (dead or alive) is able to hear or answer prayer other than the one and only living God, Who created Heaven and Earth and everything that is in them. That Hobby Lobby would promote teaching such a prayer to children is very disappointing. Please be careful what you are buying and make sure you are upholding the truth of God’s Word you have so courageously defended. Sincerely, Marcia Schmiedt Idyllwild, CA

Haven”t even left parking lot to fill this out. Store #364, time 2:48. 1 cashier-10 people in line to check out. 1 cashier called 4 times for help before anyone responded. Shame on all those who heard for help and didn”t respond. I have been to many Hobby Lobby stores and this has probably been the worst in checking customers out. Where was the manager?

Hello my name is eileen bradley, I shop at my local hobby lobby often. Most often, because I work puzzles and have them framed at the “frame shop” in there. My most resent visit 4-23-18 approx. 7-30 pm a young lady around the age of 25 yrs old, brown hair, medium weight (didn”t get her name). I touched the border, to show her that, that was the border I wanted. She snapped at me, “dont touch that”!! Really embarrassed me. She really made me feel unworthy.in which, I am not. I spend very good money in this store due to my hobby of puzzles. I get every single one framed in there.in fact, the older lady that is usually always there, unfortunately wasn”t there that day, and my experience was awful! No one should yell at anyone like that. Especially a well paying customer like myself. I felt degraded, profiled and over all, unwelcomed!! Unsure of whether i”ll be returning.

Hello, I have recently spent a good deal of time in the Hobby Lobby in Richmond Kentucky, 40475, planning our upcoming wedding. Upon being unable to find what we were looking for to create our table centerpieces anywhere else, we were excited to find that Hobby Lobby carried “Greenery Garland” that would work perfectly for the look we were attempting to achieve. On July 14th, we were fortunate enough to catch a 50% off sale on the garland we wanted so we decided to purchase the eucalyptus strand. However, only were three in stock at the time and we needed 18. So we asked the cashier (whom I do not have a name for) if we could have them ordered to the store and still purchase them at the 50% off price. She wrote us a rain check for the out of stock pieces, gave us a copy, and said she”d be in contact once the pieces came in, hopefully soon. A month passes by and we”ve heard nothing. We wait an additional two weeks and finally decide to return to Hobby Lobby to check on the status of the order. So we went in on the first week of September (2nd visit so far), and the items were still out of stock. We decided to check online while we were in the store and the item was also out of stock online. So we decided to go speak to someone. The cashier we spoke to was named Janet and she was immediately rude. When we explained the situation, she told us that we needed to contact corporate on our own to find out if the item would come back in by November 3rd, when our wedding is taking place. We returned home and sent an email to corporate about the predicament and the next day we received an email back stating that the product was completely out of stock and would not return to stock until mid to late November…after our wedding. Completely frustrated and now concerned over what we would do to figure out our centerpieces, we decided to return to Hobby Lobby to find a potential replacement option. On our now third visit to Hobby Lobby we found a similar garland, “His and Hers” brand that we thought would make a decent replacement but there was not enough of this garland in stock either. So we decided to talk to someone, again. We saw Janet, whom we spoke to last, and decided to ask her to see our rain check that was written in July so that we could talk to a manager about replacing the out of stock “Greenery Garland” with the other “His and Hers” garland that we found, hoping it would come into stock sooner than the original. Janet proceeds to tell us that we should just go talk to the floral department about it. Upon further persistence from us about the rain check, she finally states that all rain checks have been thrown out because the orders have been fulfilled…except ours NEVER was. Our rain check was thrown away and no one planned to tell us that our product wasn”t returning to the store. Furthermore, we are told that we should just “call other nearby stores ourselves” to see if either garland is left in stock. We stood in the Hobby Lobby checkout area for 30 minutes calling all of the nearby locations (two in Lexington Kentucky, one in Somerset Kentucky, and one in Elizabethtown Kentucky) to find that both garlands are out of stock everywhere else too. So now we”re reaching peak frustration because we have about six weeks until our wedding, we have only three pieces of garland out of 18, and both affordable options for our wedding are out of stock. We missed the opportunity to buy out the “Greenery Garland” from local stores back in July when the item was still available. And our rain check has been misplaced/thrown away with no attempt to inform us of what was happening. We ask for our rain check to be rewritten in hopes that this time it won”t be lost and by some chance the item we”ve been waiting for comes in. So Janet calls up Sandy from the floral department. Sandy rudely tells us that she will resubmit the order but that “we need to be sure we need that many because she doesn”t want to deal with a surplus of that product if we change our minds” when they lost our rain check and put is in this predicament in the first place!!! So we get our new rain check for 18 of the “Greenery Garland” and we walk out with nothing. We returned home, empty handed, and extremely upset. In the following days I registered on Hobby Lobby”s website to receive updates in the slim chance either the “Greenery Garland” Eucalyptus or the “His and Hers” came back into stock and began looking at other options from other stores. However, none were both as affordable as the 50% off deal we were supposed to get and as nice looking. By some miracle, three days later we receive an email that the “His and Hers” are back in stock. Although they aren”t what we originally wanted and what our rain check is written for, we decided that we shouldn”t chance it anymore and just settle for these instead. We also felt that it would be fair for Hobby Lobby to let us use our rain check for these since the other wouldn”t be in stock before our wedding and they botched our opportunity to get them by losing our rain check. So on our now 4th visit to Hobby Lobby over this mess, we spot Janet again and since she knows our situation (although we are frustrated with her attitude/rudeness) we decide to go to her. We tell her that the “His and Hers” product came back into stock online and we would like to have that ordered for the 50% off price on the rain check instead. She flat out tells us no. She doesn”t offer us a discussion, doesn”t suggest we ask a manager, nothing. She says no, i”m not doing that. Absolutely ridiculous! We”ve been so understanding at this point and done everything we possibly can to work around their mistakes! So we ask to talk to the manager. She says “he”s busy”…but he comes walking around the corner just at the right time. We ask him if he”s the manager and ask him for help with our situation. In thirty seconds of explaining the issue he immediately says “oh yeah no problem, we can totally do that.” He rewrote the rain check for remaining amount that we needed of the new product, and we went ahead and purchased the five that were in the store. Janet starts to check us out and begins trying to untangle the strands but shes so rough with them that the leaves are falling off. She glares at us the entire time as if we”ve done something wrong here. She gives us our total, shoves our stuff in a bag, hands it to us and says nothing else. We speak one last time to Sandy who says the order should arrive on the following Monday (9/17). So we called immediately on that day and the order was in with the exception of three pieces. We went directly in and picked it up and checked out with a different cashier. We asked her to rewrite the rain check for one last time so that we could get our last three pieces. Now we are waiting for that to come in. This took two months and five visits to get to this point. We still only have 15 out of 18 of a product we didn”t even want to begin with. Our rain check was lost. We were given no assistance and told repeatedly by Janet to deal with the problem on our own (“email corporate ourselves, ” “call other stores ourselves, ” “talk to Sandy in the floral department ourselves”). Furthermore she tried to tell us no, which is an answer only the manager should be responsible for, without even ever seeking out the manager”s assistance. If it weren”t for our persistence we would be without any of the items we needed and would have either had to pay a substantially greater amount of money to a different business, or gone completely without. Out of stock items happen and we completely understand this. I could have accepted that the product was semi-permanently out of stock in July when I tried to buy it! Because of my difficulty with Hobby Lobby, after my wedding I”m tempted to never return to one again – especially not the one in Richmond Kentucky. Lastly, Janet is absolutely the worst employee i”ve ever had an experience with and Sandy was not much nicer. Thank you for your time. Kelsey Basham

Hello, Let me first say I am long time Hobby Lobby customer, conservative and Christian. A few months ago I viewed the Hobby Lobby story available on Right Now Media and I literally was moved to tears when made aware of the founder”s devotion to honor God in his personal life and business. So I was extremely disappointed to see Hobby Lobby selling merchandise that adds to this country”s divisiveness. I was recently in one of your Texas stores and saw a plaque that read “OUR FAMILY, We stand for the flag and kneel for the cross”. As a patriot and Christian I am confused as to why this would even need to be said. Has kneeling for the cross ever been compared to the flag? I urge those in the merchandising department to remove this item from stores across the country before it becomes another negative media story for Hobby Lobby. That type of messaging takes away from the true mission of Hobby Lobby and Christ. The person who created this plaque is completely misinformed about the “kneeling” statement being made by my athletes in America. #1 The knee was taken to the national anthem not the flag. #2 The knee is actually to show respect to our country”s military while making a statement regarding the injustice that many people face in America today. My point is the point of view of the person who created this plague is based on inaccuracy and this is the reason why Hobby Lobby should not get involved in things that are so politically charged and has nothing to do with a Christ Centered lifestyle. If anything it”s a poor representation of what Jesus would do. Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another -Roman 12:10 – Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse Romans 12:14 Sincerely, A concerned customer [protected]@comcast.net

Hello. I purchased a “display” Christmas tree due yesterday. It was the display because the yellow tag said there were no more left and “display tree for sale” which were on several trees. See attached pictures. I took the tag…paid for it (per the instructions)..cashier told me to wait while they assisted with the tree for me. I waited by the tree and no one ever came. My boyfriend showed up to help me and he took it apart and we proceeded to leave. I waived my receipt in the air and left. 5 seconds later, we were being chased by a women employee in RUDE tone telling us we COULD NOT TAKE THE DISPLAY!. I told her to look at the sign and she still insisted the display was not for sale. To my better judgment, I kept my mouth shut and my boyfriend kindly brought the tree back in, set it BACK ON THE DISPLAY ISLE and we took the tree (same one) in a box that the employee had at the front of store. Why would the sign say “This tree is sold out” if it wasn”t??? We proceeded to leave and the employee yelled out at the cashier, “GOOD CATCH”! I WAS HUMILIATED AS IF I STOLE THE TREE. I didn”t complain then but I”m complaining now and WILL be going back today to speak with the store manager. This store is in Lewisville TX off of I35/Round Grove. I hope this person gets a good talking to. NO ONE should be treated like this!!! Where is the customer service? I truly hope someone looks at my message and contacts me directly. Hi Customer Service, I am a faithful customer of Hobby Lobby and yet not been disappointed! Until now! My son went in your Hobby Lobby store in Redlands California in December 22, 2017 and purchased me ! My Christmas gift. My son is an active military serviceman in The United States Navy, when paying for the merchandise he kindly ask for a military discount and was told your company does not offer military discounts . Which is absolutely disheartening. Michael”s Craft Store and JoAnn”s Fabric Store all honor military discount . You are a Christian base Store! Which should be more than willing to give our veterans thanks for their service for willing to fight for your freedom. I believe as what Hobby Lobby stands for, Which is God”s word . and this Nation which stand One Nation Under God. Then you should honor our veterans of the United States of America ????. Hi there, my name is Jenessa and I shop at your store all the time. I”m a very dedicated customer. Today I was checking out at the register and your cashier Emily at the San Marcos location in CA was very rude. No smile, no hello, no eye contact nothing. My husband and I always are polite and say hello how are you? Emily quoted “Will that be all for you?” One of the plants we bought was broken so we asked Emily if we could have a little discount since it was the only plant displayed. She rolled her eyes and called over Amy (manager?) Amy came over and said with a disgustedly look on her face “I can only give you 10% off” and walked away. After we paid I said to Emily have a nice day and thank you she quoted “yep”. During this whole transaction no eye contact. I”ve been in customer service for 15 years and yes I”ve had my ups and downs but never have treated another human being like that. Whether it”s a bored dimeanor, a dismissive look or just plain rude behavior, sloppy customer service spells disaster faster than about any other business transgression.

Hobby lobby on Baytown Texas(4553 Garth Rd.) Manager ( phoeby) was very disrespectful and unprofessional I have had the worst experience ever I was humiliated and embarrassed in front of other Customers and other staff members as if to set an example of a customer who honestly believed that the price that was marked down was right but the head or that department (dell) watched as my dear sick mother who has cancer went through the poster/portraits for 2 hours saying wows and awws to the marked down prices in front of him and was saying allowed the prices that where shown to only get to the front and be accused of changing prices and treated as if we had done something wrong and told we would have to pay full price because the prices where incorrectly marked by us and/or other customers and dear manager phoeby refused to give us a number or anyway of contact to corporate as if we where a bothersome to her day and talked to us if we weren”t paying customers and had are cashier suspend are in the process purchase for “we where holding up the line” and again talked rudely to my mother and me after paying I came to the car to write this after searching online for anyways of contact with someone willing to hear us as my mother felt sorry for bothering manger phoeby went back inside to apologize for being an inconvenience to her day for my mother to come back to the car and a few minutes into are drive for her to tell me she was screamed at by manger phoeby and was actually really upset and on the verge of tears and now I am even more upset at this fact on how she was treated especially in her condition and would really like to be contacted on this situation and told on how this would be delt with because first off I”m a 17 year old girl with a sick mother and would like her to be contacted with an apology from someone [protected] and further details if you need to speak with her and here”s my email just Incase you would want to speak with me [protected]@gmail.com I really hope to receive an email on how this will be delt with especially

I am (as many, many, many others in area) are totally devastated your store will be closing next Friday. I go in your store to shop at least 4 times a month..more during any holiday (I am a crafter and I shop for decor and gifts) and I always leave with a cartfull plus every single time I am in store there are lines and they have to open numerous checkouts to check everyone out in a timely manner. The lot always has cars in it. There is absolutely NO store like this anywhere near..no craft and art supply, no sewing, no decorating. We all just hope you open another store in this area right away. PLEASE. The nearest one is a distance away. There are things in store you could elimate that don’t sell to help you downsize and possibly open a smaller version like a new type smaller store with a catchy name. Please think twice.

I am a loyal Hobby Lobby customer and have been shopping in the stores for many years, which is why it is very upsetting for me to write this letter. I make purchase at my local Hobby Lobby very frequently, sometimes every week. Approximately 2 weeks ago (5.15.18) I brought a large, expensive tapestry to the frame department of the store #63 located on 920 S Monaco Pkwy Denver Co 80224. I wanted to frame the tapestry. The frame department agreed to perform the job and I happily agreed to pay $589 dollars for the work. Having paid about than $600 dollars for this work, I expected it to be perfect, however when I brought the framed tapestry home and removed if from the plastic that it was wrapped in, what I saw was very upsetting. The quality of work was terrible. The upper corners of the tapestry were attached to a piece of cardboard higher than middle . The stream on the right side was also thicker than the left side, and it was misaligned. Essentially space between frame and tapestry was different for each side. I took several pictures of it and returned to the store next morning to ask for a return or for them to fix the work and to explain to the employees why I wanted my money back for the frame and the work. A nice employee at the store, who performed the work on the tapestry told me that there were several limitations when working with the tapestry and that its size did not allow her to make it the way that I wanted. She asked me to come back in the afternoon to talk to her manager. Later that day her manager, Candy, very politely repeated that the tapestry is big and that she though the work was good. I asked if there was any possibility to fix the job and she said that it was impossible. After this she called the store manager, JIM. Very politely I showed Jim the photos and wanted to explain to him why I wanted to return the frame and receive a refund for the work and apologized for the inconvenience. Instead of listening to me Jim interrupted me and did not let me finish talking. He did not want to speak to me and said that I did not understand anything in this line of work and that he is the only one who understands . He called me a “persona non-grata” and told me that I can never come back to the frame department, essentially banning me from the store. I asked him why he is being so rude, and in response he changed his face and through his teeth, in a threatening tone told me that “I am smiling at you.” Then he said that if I wanted a return I must pay 10% from the $589 because his worker “wasted her time on me.” I finally brought my large tapestry to the store, stood in a long line at the cash register. I received my money back and at the same time Jim stood next to me and told me again that I could “never come back to the store to shop, ” but then changed his statement to “I can never come back to the frame store.” He said that he never wants to see me again. I think that Jim’s behavior as a manager and representative of your company is extremely denigrating, offensive and unprofessional. I am a very shy person and he made me feel like I stole something from him. Unfortunately, I will never come to this store again because I feel spat-on and extremely disrespected. As a business owner myself I would never allow an employee to treat a client or another human being in this manner. Sincerely, Irina Senatorova

I am a part time employee of HL and in my short time I have notice an employee(Emily Bowmen) “hide” Christmas items, then after the holiday when holiday items become 90% off she got the items out of “hiding” and purchased them all in full view of store manger (Chris Campbell). Chris also berates most every female with the exception of a few “favorites”. He is unpredictable, Bi-polar, womanizing, hateful person. I love my job and the people I work with. When I become fulltime I will put in for a transfer.

I am a serious knitter & bought 5 skeins of the stonewash “I Love This Yarn” yarn. I found a strip that was not dyed properly and knots mid-skein in all the skeins. This is poor quality production. Knots should not occur in a skein of yarn. Knitters knot at the end of rows. Also an undyed or misdyed portion should be caught by quality control. I do really like this yarn. However, I won’t shop Hobby Lobby yarns if I experience this again. I’m assuming that this feedback will be useful to you going forward; that is the way I meant it. Your stores are all uniformly very well organized and spotlessly clean – kudos for that! Sarah McHaffie Lexington, KY [protected]@yahoo.com

I am an avid crafter. That being said the closest hobby lobby to me is about an hour away so I don”t get to go there often. However 2 days a month I work in pensacola where it is. After a very long tuesday at work my coworker and I decided to go shop at this store. Upon entering I noticed in the first couple of aisles we were in a man on a phone was standing at the end of each aisle. I didn”t pay much attention because I was loving all the christmas products they had out. But then a short stocky woman, who”s name I came to find out at the end of this is tina, started following my friend and i. When I say followed I mean she was within 5 feet of me the whole time I was in the store. It was very aggravating. I”m a paying customer trying to have fun picking out things I don”t get to see that often. Needless to say after an hour of her following us I confronted her. I asked if there was a problem and she said no. I asked why she was following us and she said she was just an employee. She said that over and over again. I told her I was almost ready to put down all my merchandise (around $200 worth) down and leave and she offered to take my basket.! I am beyond disgusted with how we were treated. I spend around $5000+ on craft supplies a year. I will never shop at the store again. She stalked us, harassed us, and if I knew how I would have her fired for doing this. She followed us literally to the registers where she went and hid by the manager who stayed as far from us as he could at that point. I would love an explanation for all of this. Absolutely disgusting.

I am an online seller on etsy.com. I have had over 700 sales this year with 4, 500 inception to date. I get a huge amount of my supplies at Hobby Lobby. The check out process with people manually entering prices and then searching for a discount is antiquated and does not provide the best customer service. I personally have been charged incorrectly hundreds of times!!! People are not accurate when manually entering prices and then remembering 100s of sale items. I have asked the clerks why they do not have a bar code scanning system. They all usually tell me it is because our founder wants to us to interact with the customer. Interact with the customer? The clerks are so consumed by prices and sales they cannot talk to me. If they were mindlessly scanning away like other stores, we could interact and I could feel the utmost customer service. This is a store with Christian values and I appreciate that. I do not feel that Christian values are the prime focus because I am being over charged and you are keeping my money!

I am retired and went to your store with my daughter to get some ideas for Christmas on the evening of November 30, 2019. We always take our time and have fun looking but for an unknown reason were followed around the whole time we were there. A woman followed my daughter and a man kept watching me. Suggestions: a few larger shopping carts (we had no place to put our coats but in the carts) and a bucket or small container to put “little” things in without them falling out of the cart. When we went to check out the man raised his voice unnecessarily saying “No one shops for 3 hours!” and he could “arrest my daughter for stealing” because she put a few small items in a case she was buying to keep from them falling out. The woman watching her saw her put the items in but did not offer any assistance or solutions. We were both so upset that we left half the items there and the girl at checkout did not assist either of us with our coupons. Between the two of us, we have over 55 years working with customers. Businesses usually would like customers to take their time and enjoy their stores. The longer you shop, the more you buy…right?? Your Orem store blew it! We were and are both embarrassed, and very upset. I hope you might try my suggestions and help make shopping at your stores more pleasant for any future customers.

I bought a 20X16 canvas and frame at hobby lobby to do a painting I was commissioned by a person in which all proceeds were going to the humane society. I spent months working on this painting and customizing the frame to match. When I took my finished work into Hobby Lobby to have it framed, they determined that the canvas was lopsided and not squared properly and wouldn”t fit. They said they would keep it over night to try and fit it. I came in the next day to find my painting scratched up and completely loose. I was absolutely sickened by all my hard work and lost proceeds could just be disgarded by faulty products and apathy. I am truly sickened by the whole experience!

I bought a cut of fabric and got it home to find that it was very crooked on the bolt and by the time I had it straight I was losing 5 inches. I went back to the store and they told me they couldn”t do anything about it. It was no longer on sale and I ended up having to buy a whole new piece plus an extra 1/4 yard to make sure I had enough to account for the crookedness, at full price. I have a toddler and a young baby so even having to go back to the store was a major inconvenience in itself. I”ve always been happy with your merchandise and the politeness of your employees but this time was very disappointing. The person even made it sound like it was a common thing. At the very least you should have your employees warn customers to buy extra or just give some extra. I”m familiar with fabric and expect some shrinkage or being off a bit but 5 inches is more than I should need to account for.

I came to Hobby Lobby to look for a few decorations for my baby shower and desperately needed to use the restroom when I walked in. Before I continue, I would just like to say I would not generally use my pregnancy to excuse anything. So I walk to the the back where the restrooms are and I see a sign that says they are closed. Then I see a woman come out of a stall and I ask her if they were closed and she tells me she just couldn”t wait and told me to just go in. I was very hesitant but in my desperation, I did. I had just finished washing my hands when I see a man walk up to the door, I am embarrassed and ashamed (I never do stuff like this) so I apologize. This man goes on to say (in a rude manner) ” No, your not sorry. You saw the sign”. Now I know I am not completely innocent in this scenario but I could not believe how rude he was, I worked in customer service for 2 years and neither me nor any of my coworkers would have ever spoken to a customer that way. I was shocked at his reply/attitude and became angry. I walked out and I am not proud of the following, I said ” I”m pregnant” walked away but was so bothered I stopped, walked back and said ” you know what, I”m not sorry”. It took a lot for me not to cry after that. I just could not believe him and I can not believe what passes as good customer service these days. I am still very disappointed. Definitely ruined what was supposed to be a good experience.

I decided to return a 1 week old gift card I purchased. I had my original receipt, the original gift card, and a valid drivers license as the return policy states. The cashier who assisted me did not know how to process this type of transaction so she called the manager. The manager stated he wasn’t sure how to do this, he left for about 1 minute and came back and said, “no I’m sorry gift cards are not refundable” I asked to see the policy on that because the only one I can see was on the back of my receipt and on the partition wall behind the cashier and neither one of them states anything on ‘no returns on gift cards if you are the original purchaser’. Why is this? Nobody can show me the policy. How can the manager not know, then come back 1 minute later and be very sure you cannot. All the manager kept stating was that it was their policy by their corporate office. This was only the 2nd time I stepped into the Hobby Lobby, and I will be sure not to go back. My trip to make the return was a total waste of my time, I hate going to that side of town and nobody there can make any sense of this issue. If I’m wrong then I can accept that, but I truly don’t believe I’m in the wrong.

I discovered Hobby Lobby a few years ago, and have always enjoyed their selection and customer service. However, I recently learned that they were fined $3 million by the DOJ for stealing artifacts from Iraq. Stealing is one thing, but stealing national treasures from under the feet of widows and orphans in a war-torn country is indescribably upsetting. I explained to our children that we will shop for craft supplies elsewhere from now on.

I frequently shop at the Hobby Lobby store in Colorado Springs. Thursday I went looking for an anniversary gift for my parents & a birthday gift with my two sons. We spent about an hour picking out 7 differnt gifts. All were advertised 50% off. When we went to the register none of the merchandise was on sale. The cashier argued with me, questioned where I found everything, and what discounts were on tbe shelving. She then called for a manager. By then I was embarrassed & just wanted to leave. So we did without any gifts. I”ll never shop at aHobby Lobby again. Please review your ads. They”re not customer friendly.

I had four items all the same with one being a different price, a lower price. A manager was paged several times, never showed. I waited well over 10 minutes. There were several long lines of people waiting. This was very unacceptable treatment of a customer. I am a very laid back person, but this was ridiculous. Poor treatment of the cashier, very unprofessional behavior. Someone needs to check out what these managers were doing that one couldn”t come settlement this issue. Everyone in line was aware of what was going on. I”ll think twice about going back to hobby lobby…

I had ordered a stretcher frame over a year ago from Hobby Lobby. I did forget about it which was my fault entirely. I was in the middle of a pregnancy and moving when we originally dropped the pieces off and things became hectic. My husband and I went in to pick up the art work which was put on wood stretchers totalling approx. $120. We paid and realized that it looked off. The framer (Mike) had advised us that an additional frame on the outside of the canvas along with glass would look good. We took the frame to the back and requested this additional work. When I returned to pick it up Kim (an excellent employee) recognized me (since I had been there on numerous occassions) and referred to another frame that I had purchased prior to this occassion which consisted of an autographed CD cover. When I took the frame to the front, The total I was being charged was over $265. As the cashier was ringing me up, I noticed there was a problem. I was being charged for the initial stretcher once again. I advised her of the issue and she immediatly contacted the Assistant Store Manager, Brenda who made me feel as if I was being interrogated, had no discrepancy, and suggested right away that if I were to have paid for the frame that an extra white document would not be attatched to the work (the thought never occurred that they might have not removed it properly) and asked for the original receipt for part one of the work which was over a year old. She advised me that without the original receipt nothing could be done. I asked for the corporate number. I contacted the credit card company who could not provide me with statements online over a year old unless I paid for a paper statement to be sent. I then contacted corporate only to speak with a customer service representative named Cheri who spoke above me and faster everytime I tried to respond to her as she was going through her rebuttles. I advised her on the 3rd occassion during our conversation to please refrain from doing that as I found it extremely rude and she then told me it was because I was “interrupting” her! I suggested the possibility of getting the credit card to send them an image of the receipt as a possibility as even if I did have the receipt, it would most likely be faded by now. Also, I was dealing with a store I thought I could trust. Both, my husband and myself have gotten our degrees framed there (MBA & BA each) along with several other works. Cheri’s response was that she kept her receipts “quiet a while” and if put in file folders she knew first-hand they would “last at least 4 years.” I then suggested to Cheri that I would like to make sure I had my work returned to me as it was purchased in the Dominican Republic as a souvenir. She called the store and said she made the arrangement to have the frame removed. I asked to speak to her supervisor. His name was Joel. He was very courteous and said I could send documentation to him. However, as I needed the frames today (gift) this was not very helpful to me. This would maybe get me a refund, but I would need to spend more money for statements and additional time on this issue when I really want nothing more to do with Hobby Lobby. My time is more valuable. In the end, I called the store to see if this work was ready to be picked up when I was 5 minutes away. I was told that it was and when I went in, I was handed the frames once more. I advised that I was not paying for the additional work. Another framing department employee walked by who seemed to know what was going on and told the framer to remove the frames. This took about 20 minutes. I was then handed frameless work without the stretchers that I had previously paid for. Both my mother and my grandmother whom until this day were loyal customers with the school district and members of local church organizations never experienced such awful service. Also, I’ve done mystery shopping for several other companies, provided with a problomatic scenerio and never once have I been treated so poorly or spoken down to in front of others at a store. It’s really a shame that Hobby Lobby doesn’t have more competition other than Michael’s in our area. Maybe they would care more about their customers if they did. I will be forwarding this information and my family has also agreed to spread the word. Hobby Lobby accomplished throwing away my time, custom frame work, and their employees time not to mention several loyal customers.
